How to replace head gasket on a 05 scion tc 1.5L

If you are asking the question let a mechanic do it. The gasket is cheap but it involves a lot of work and some experiance. Look in a Chilton book for that model and you'll get an idea of whats necessary.

2000 civic running ruff and backfire

Since you replaced the head gasket, your timing marks are off, and I pretty much am totally positive on this. The timing marks on this one are tricky. When you replaced head gasket, did you replace the timing belt and tensioners?? Do a compression test on all cylinders and make sure they are all within specs. If it sounds like it's only running on three cylinders, you have a dead cylinder which could mean broken or badly worn piston rings. From what you described with the backfiring and all, seems that your timing is off a tooth or two yet do a compression test first. Disconnect the fuel pump fuse and remove all spark plugs when you due this. Let me know your progress and i hope this helps. One other thing you should do since the car sat for 5 months is take the gas tank out and get it cleaned out, bad fuel sitting so long.

no idea here ,look at the valves on no1 or any cylinder come to that then take not of what cylinder it is then rotor arm should point to that HT lead, the inlet valve should be up and to the left and the exhaust up and to the right piston at the top ,then brroom brrroom

I have replaced timing belt and head gasket after having a blown head gasket set tdc and all timing marks but motor backfires and almost starts but will not please help me

Sounds like the timing is 180 degrees out. You would have to unhook the belt and turn the crank 360 degrees and put the belt back on. I hope this helps!

Motor wont run just just turns over. wont start replaced timeing chain and it backfires through the bottom radiator hose...

backfireing in the coolant system is a sign your head gasket is blown or cracked block or head. Do a compression test ot confirm the integrity of the engine

Gm 350 runs rough and back fires at idle after head replacment

Sounds Like a timing issue . If you rebuilt it i feel silly to ask if you set the timing to 12-13 BTDC . And also keep in mind it could be 180 degrees out (same marks yet still a little bit off...) Keep me posted with more info and ill keep replying

Turn the engine by hand to Top dead center on the # 1 cylinder,Pull the distributor cap and see where the rotor is pointing. It should be lined up with the # 1 plug wire on the cap,If it's not, turn the distributor until it is.If you can't turn it far enough, you will need to pull the distributor out and turn one tooth on the distributor gear and reinsert it.

If this it is way off,let me know and I will tell you what to do.

please rate this a fixya
