Question about 1998 Toyota Avalon

My 1998 toyota avalon needs a new ignition switch with an immobilizer. Will i be able to buy one and replace it without reseting

The internet is saying that i will have to reprogram the key. The parts store said i just need to replace the ignition switch and its an easy fix

My 1998 Toyota Avalon XL is having a problem with the ignition. Ive tried to turn the key but it will not turn. Steering Wheel isnt locked but the ignition is. What do I need to do?

the tumblers in the key switch maybe worn and require replacement. the key tumbler assembly will come with an new key.

u can't what i did is i bring the lock cylinder to the lock smith, he change the inside so you can use the old key.
if you don't have the old key you to bring it to toyota so they can program the new key and it cost a lot

Immobiliser bypass

The motor can be replaced without touching the immobilizer system. There may be no problem with the immobilizer system as it only turns off power to the fuel pump or ignition spark.
better yet just re-seed the immobilizer ECM with the dealer

Yes, But if the key is used, the procedure is call reset the immobilizer ecu, not just program the key, this procedure is done
