SOURCE: toyota 2e engine

Hi,

The only positive way to check if the oil pump is working and therefore there is correct oil pressure is to temporary install a non-electrical oil pressure gauge that uses a small copper tubing to sample the oil/pressure and drive a needle on the gauge. Depending on temperature, idle should register about 20+psi. Having done this and confirmed that indeed there is sufficient oil pressure then it may simply be a defective oil sending unit. Otherwise, no or low oil pressure at idle is an indicator that the engine needs to be opened up again.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Oil type for '94 Tercel

Hello Seth.
If the temperature you are running until your next oil change is due will be below 50F average they recommend 5w30.
Otherwise 10w 30 is the choice.

How to tork the heads on a 1990 Toyota tercell?

Here is a picture of the torque sequence. First pic is for a 3A and 3A-C engine. Second one is for a 3E and 3E-E engine. Your federal emission sticker under the hood will tell you which one you have.

3A and 3A-C: torque in sequence in 3 steps. first to 14 Ft Lbs. Second pass to 30 Ft Lbs. and final pass to 43 Ft Lbs.

3E and 3E-E: First pass 22 Ft Lbs. Second pass to 36 Ft Lbs and final pass turn each bolt an addtional 90 degrees.

I have a 1994 toyota tercel with a 1995 motor do I tell if its a 2E or not

If you have a '95 motor it should be a 5E-FE. The Tercels from '91-'94 had the oil burning no good 3EE. You can tell quickly if your engine has 16 valves.

Fix engine head..lost the time.....how to fix timing..engine won't star

If you still have a problem, here is my solution;
1- put the block or lower end on the TDC based on the crank pulley, verify that piston #1 is all the way up
2- put the head on with the camshaft pulley '3E' mark facing up(on top). The valves for #1 cylinder should be closed.
3- install the timing belt and the distributor(pointing to #1 spark plug wire). then adjust the timing and the valve gap.

I need to know timing alignment mark to align camshaft on 91 Toyota Tercel with SOHC 3E engine.

the camshaft has a pin on the pulley side that should be at the 12:00 position and the #1 piston valves should all be closed.
