Question about 2008 Kia Spectra

Open Question

2008 Kia Spectra 5 My rear wiper arm will not show movement. Had all fuses and relays checked: tested good, wiper switch operates properly.

The wiper moter works when a few of the wires on the motor connect point are crossed, so power is getting to the motor, but no movement. Could there be a short somewhere, what could be the problem??

The relay (fuse type thing located under the hood) was good as well. If that is the case then the motor is the issue. or the switch itself.

needs looking at because it could be switch that allows it to turn on if sufficient gas is present ,or a problem with the clima compùter ,but to do anything you will need the special machine to empty the system then check things out so take to an authorised AC garage ,because these systems are a potential accident and you could lose a finger with frostbite in a matter of less than 2 seconds .therefore i will not tell you how to look for a soloution because of the dangerous nature of playing with air con

Our Sedona had a similar problem, Turned out that the pipes to the rear heater had corroded and were leaking, caused some overheating which blew hot air when the A/C was on. I would check this then check the coolant pressure.

Your wiper arm has an interference fit which means it is essentially pressed on. The best way to remove it is to buy a wiper arm puller, which will have two arms that fit underneath the arm and a bolt that will push on the wiper post, they are pretty slick it should pop right off. Any auto parts store should be able to furnish you with the tool. If you're not going to use it alot, you might call your dealership (or friend with lots of tools) and see if they will pop it off for you.

Unfortunately there are no mechanical fixes available because that trouble code indicates a malfunction somewhere in the electrical circuit for the fuel pump and that would include wiring from the battery to the pump, the fuel pump control module and the and the car's brain, the ECM. It can be a loose connection, but if one is not easily found, then the problem has to be tested with special electrical testing equipment. More information is available but I can't post an illustration of the troubleshooting for this Diagnostic Trouble Code.

Wiper control module location on a 2000 f250


Did you check the wiper relay's in the under hood fuse box ? There are two ,wiper run/park relay & wiper high low relay ! Also ,did you check fuse's ? fuse # 11 - 30amp location cental juction box . The wiper switch is a input to the GEM module . Generic electronic module . The module in most cases isn't the problem ! Learning how to test these electronic systems is , people do not know how to test so they just replace parts . What they should do is take the vehicle to ford certified Technician who has the knowledge and testing equipment to find an fix it .

The generic electronic module (GEM) receives inputs from the following:
  • multifunction switch
  • anti-lock brake control module (vehicle speed signal [VSS])
  • ignition switch
The GEM uses these inputs to control the outputs to the following:
  • windshield wiper high/low relay

Which one does yours have ?

The switch could be bad or the windshield wiper / washer module . Do you own a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Do you know how to do automotive electrical trouble shooting ? There are a few good videos on youtube on basic electrical trouble shooting an how to read wiring diagrams . Go to http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html for free wiring diagrams . Check B+ voltage at the switch (in an out ) at the different speeds .Check for B+ voltage at the wiper washer module , it's part of the wiper motor .
The windshield wiper/washer system consists of a permanent-magnet depressed-park wiper motor assembly, a wiper transmission assembly, wiper arm and blade assemblies, a washer pump mounted on a washer solvent container, and a wiper/washer switch assembly.
The wiper/washer system is a pulse (delay) type. Pulse timing and demand wash functions are controlled electronically. Wiper/Washer System Description (Rainsense)

I have a 2006 kia sportage I have removed the rear wiper arm as not moving/.seized but the fuse is fine but fixing is not moving?please help


check for power at the wiper motor if you have power when the switch is activated if you have power there the motor needs to be replaced. if you have no power change the fuse and check again for power when the wiper switch it activated there is a relay that will cut out if the wiper is frozen to the window but unlikely that this will be your problem 9 times out of 10 the motor is gone.

Front wipers will not operate. checked fuse and relay look ok. back wiper works


Here are a few other things to check beside the fuse and relay:

Check Wiper Motor - the wiper motor is the driving force of the windshield wiper. Feel the motor and listen to a humming sound. If there is no humming, the motor is the problem. Check if the motor is working properly and see to it that its electrical connections are made properly. If you find that the motor is dead and beyond repair, get it replaced immediately.

Check For Break in Connecting Wires - the connecting wires of the motor sometimes go loose and that may cause the windshield wipers to stop working. Also check the battery plug connection which the motor has. Connecting the loose wires properly or fixing/replacing the plug might solve your problem.

Check Wiper Switch - another wiper assembly part that can malfunction is the wiper switch itself. Check for switch malfunction and if you find that is indeed the problem, get it replaced from a mechanic.

Check for Bent Wiper Arms - bent wiper arms can cause the operation of the wipers to be hampered. If the wiper arms are bent beyond repair, get them replaced immediately.

Intermittent Speed Windshield Wipers
The intermittent wiper speed is activated with grounds controlled by the multifunction switch inputs to the windshield wiper motor module. The windshield wiper motor module then activates the windshield wiper RUN/PARK relay coil and switches voltage through the windshield wiper high/low relay. The high/low relay remains deactivated supplying the voltage to the wiper motor low speed input and activates the windshield wiper motor. When the windshield wiper motor module receives the grounded input, the motor continues to operate until Hall effect senses magnet to turn off RUN/PARK sense the output to the windshield wiper RUN/PARK software, deactivating the relay and disconnecting voltage to the wiper motor. The windshield wipers remain parked until the windshield wiper motor module completes a time-out and then repeats the intermittent windshield wiper cycle.

Pinpoint Test D: The Intermittent Windshield Wiper Speed Does Not Operate Correctly
Normal Operation During normal operation, the windshield wiper motor receives voltage at all times through battery junction box (BJB) fuse 1 (30A), circuit 65 (DG). The windshield wiper motor also receives power with the ignition switch in RUN or ACC positions through central junction box (CJB) fuse 33 (15A), circuit 1002 (BK/PK). Ground is provided to the windshield wiper motor through circuit 676 (PK/OG) and circuit 57 (BK). The run/park and high/low relays are contained in the wiper motor electronics. Mode of operation is dependant on the signal(s) received from the multifunction switch.
    Possible Causes
  • Multifunction switch
  • Open in circuit 57 (BK), 56 (DB/OG), 61 (YE/RD) or 63 (RD)
  • Windshield wiper motor
PINPOINT TEST D: THE INTERMITTENT WINDSHIELD WIPER SPEED DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY Test Step Result / Action to Take D1 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202b.
  • Carry out the multifunction switch component test. Refer to Wiring Diagrams Cell 149 for schematic and connector information.

  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to D3 .

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. D3 CHECK CIRCUITS 56 (DB/OG), 61 (YE/RD) AND 63 (RD) FOR OPENS
  • Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125.
  • Using the following table, measure the resistance between multifunction switch C202b harness side and windshield wiper motor C125 harness side:

  • Check for:
    • corrosion.
    • pushed-out pins.
  • Connect all wiper motor connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?
Yes
GO to D5 .

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation. D5 CHECK THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125.
  • Carry out the windshield wiper motor component test as outlined in this section.
  • Did the windshield wiper motor pass the component test?
Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by incorrect binding pivot arm adjustment. REFER to Wiper Blade and Pivot Arm Adjustment in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.

I have a 1999 explorer sport that the rear wiper does not work. I have already replaced the wiper assembly,checked the fuse under the hood, switched the wiper relay with another known to be good and tested...


Before replacing GEM modules test the electrical circuits ,don't guess . And if you don't know how to test your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop . These modules are capable of setting DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes , need an advanced type scan tool . Not a code reader . How did your test the switch ? Low voltage input to the gem . Plus there are two relays for the rear wipers . Did you pull the relays an test (with a voltmeter ) for B+ voltage on the control side and load side of the relay ? Is the GEM energizing the relay .
You people crack me up ,you have no clue .

looking at wiring diagrams to see what all is involved in making the wipers work ,testing electrical circuits ,this is how you find electrical problems , not swap relays an just replace parts .

Just bought 2004 passat and winshield wipers dont work


If both wipers are not working, then first of all check your fuses, if fuses are good follow wiper motor wires or look in owner's manual to find the wiper relay. Test relay with ohmmeter to see if it is good or just replace it.
Double check all wiring.
Last possible cause would be the a bad wiper switch which you can also test with an ohmmeter
