I'm not a mikanik for 40 years and I,m not going to say he is wrong but I have 35 years with cars and welding and building all my own stuff and before you go through all of the electrical stuff I would first find out if the problem is with the fuel or electical . Check the coil for spark if you have spark I would take off the fuel filter and see if it is plugged , I just blow on the end clossest to the gas tank and if there is a lot of resistance change it and my bet is that is all it is. When the fuel filter is cold the truck starts and after a few miles it just dies . Let it sit for a few hrs and you can start it again. So from what I read you said it starts runs for a bit then dies and starts hrs later that sounds more like the filter than an electrical problem. Usualy when its electrical the circut is apen and thats it dead, not allways but more often the not. If you solved the problem the email me with the results because I just bought a 95 Tahoe and have not had any problems as of yet . My Tahoe has a 350 c.I and It has lots of power great condition. Good luck Mrbulldog30@hotmail.com

My suggestion would be to find the ALDL (Assembly Line Data Link) or the DLC (Data Link Connector) . Usually located under the dash and sometimes will have a plastic cover on it saying (Diagnostic Connector) You need to jumper 2 wires together and then turn ignition to on position and the trouble codes are read by a flashing check engine light located in the dash. If you need to info on this subject I would suggest loging on to Autozone.com and enter your make, year and model of vehicle and you will be able to get all kinds of repair info for free. The troubleshooting section is quite impressive and is taken directly from Chiltons manuals. Because basically the problem your encountering could be a number of different things and the last thing you want to do is throw money away on a hit or miss procedure.

So they changed the coil and cat. converter?

I would be checking for spark right after it shuts off. No spark is something in the ignition getting hot and failing. I suppose the shop checked for codes?
If no spark, possibly the crank position sensor or the ignition module-a shop can test both. Or if you take off the ignition module and take to a parts store, they should be able to test that.
If you do have spark at the spark plugs when it will not start, check fuel pressure or see if pump is working. When it stalls, do you hear the pump come on with key on?

I need help with my 94 cutlass ciera V6!

I AM LEANING TOWARDS A POSSIBLE BAD CRANK POSITION SENSOR OR A POOR CONNECTION IN THE IGNITION CIRCUIT, PERHAPS A BAD IGNITION MODULE. CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE POWER GOING IN THE MODULE AND GOING OUT. ALSO CHECK FOR SPARK WHEN IT IS HOT. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO KEEP ME POSTED ON YOUR PROGRESS. BEST OF LUCK.
