I had this problem as well on a earlier year PT Cruiser, i tried everything i could think of, removing fuses one by one while watching the current draw on the battery led me to the radio, after pulling the fuse for the radio the current draw dropped down to about 150mA, i don't know what was wrong with the radio but i replaced it and the problem went away. The IOD fuse supplies power to the ECU and all of the electronic control modules in the car, how much current draw are you seeing with the IOD fuse in, and how much are you seeing with it out? Its not uncommon to see a couple hundred mA in standby to everything, especially if you have the factory security system with immobilizer, chipped keys. But you may have to pull one fuse at a time to find the culprit if you are seeing a much higher draw, should be less than 1 amp at the worst.

Pull the negative battery cable and put a 12V test light between the cable and the negative terminal. If there is a draw, the light should light bright. From here you can remove items until the light goes dim. The first thing I would test would be to remove the main alternator wire. An alternator can still charge but have a bad diode that will cause a dead short.
Put a test light on the negative battery cable with it unhooked from the battery touch the test light tester side to the negative terminal on the battery .. the test light will illuminate now start pulling fuses .. the test light will dim as u remove the drain ... check and see witch fuse dims the light the most .. check that circuit... its running your battery down
Check trunk light, glove box light, underhood light-make sure they're all off. Here's a test you could try. Take the bulb out of the under hood light, and leave hood open. Turn off the car and lock it as you usually do. Wait about 20-30 minutes, so the computer goes to sleep. Now take off the negative battery terminal, and put a test light between the negative cable end and the negative battery post. If you have an unintended draw on the battery, the test light should be brightly lit. If it is, start pulling fuses one at a time until the light goes off. The circuit for the fuse that turned off the light when pulled is the problem. Figure out what all is on that circuit to check out what is staying on. I should add that if the test light is very dim, that may not be the problem, because the keep-alive memory for the computers, the radio pre-sets, and the clock would all draw a tiny amount of electricity-not enough to drain a battery if working right, and only measured in milliamps.
There is a problem in the charging system. Either your battery is not holding a charge anymore, or your alternator is dead. The first thing to do is check the alternator. turn on the car and then remove the negative battery terminal. If the car shuts off immediately after disconnecting the battery then your alternator is bad and needs to be replaced. If it stays on, then your alternator is OK, you then need to remove the battery and go have it tested at your local auto parts store. Also have all the battery cables checked for corrosion as well, if they're hard and frayed then replace those as well.
Obviously you have a current draw from somewhere, and one of the easiest ways to find it, is to hook a 12 volt test light between your + battery terminal, and your + battery clamp. Just remove positive clamp, have one end of test light hooked to clamp, and the other attached to post of battery. As long as test light is bright, it's showing a draw. Then start pulling fuses from the circuits that you suspect may be causing the draw, like alarm system, door locks, etc. When the light dims or goes out when fuse is pulled, you found the circuit causing the draw, or one of the draws. Keep in mind the memory on your stereo will cause a slight draw for sure.
have the battery tested for a shorted cell. if bad replace. if already replaced. it could be a number of things wrong. the regulater in the alt. could be stuck to where it is charging but when you shut it off it discharges the battery. another thing to try is unhook one of the battery cabels. conect you a test light to the battery post you unhooked and hook the other end to the terminal if there is a major draw the test light will be very bright. if it is you can start removing one fuse at a time untill it goes out or goest to really dim and you know what circut is messing up to draw it dead., hope this helps.
If you disconnect the negative battery cable and connect a 12V test light between the battery negative post and the negative battery cable terminal the light will burn if there's a draw. Make sure all electrical consumers are off and all doors closed when doing this draw test. If the light is on start pulling 1 fuse at a time until the light goes out, when it goes out that's the circuit that has the draw. Trace it from there.
It sounds like you have a bad diode trio in the altanator. to test remove the belt off the altanator then turn the key on and see if the fan on the altanator spins if it does thats your problem. If not then get a 12 volt test light and remove the negitive battery post and put one end of the lead on the battery and the other on the cable. with everything off does it light up? Yes? then make sure the glove box light is not on, or remove it for a few days and see if the problem goes away if it does you have solved your problem. you can test it with the glove box light out with the test light. If the light stays on you can pull one fuse at a time to see if you pull a fuse it goes out. if it goes out with pulling a fuse then you have found the problem with the circut giving you the problem, after you loctae the fuse take it to a shop and tel them the fuse that stops the light from being on. Make sure your cables positive and negative are in good shape. If they are, remove the negative cable and use a test light to jump across the neg. terminal to the cable. If there is a power draw, the test light will illuminate. At this point, remove the fuses one at a time until the test light turns off. What ever that particular fuse goes to is the circuit with the power draw. Hope this helps.
