You might have stretched the cable use a pair of needle nose and pull the cable attacked to the hood release by hand and see if that works. Otherwise there is a way to release it from the latch itself but it is tricky and can be difficult

Did you try having someone push down on the hood above the latch while you pull the release? If not, try that and if it opens you can adjust it.

SOURCE: My hood latch is broken

If the cable link to the latch is rusty or broken you have to take the front grid down. It's relatively easy. It's held there by plastic fasteners. Then reach for the latch with you hand, or the leftover broken cable. Pull it, it should release the first latch, than you just have to get to the security latch, like you usually do to open the hood.

SOURCE: My 2003 Kia Rio Cinco back hatch latch handle is

We had the same problem.
I took out the bolts outside, then crawled into the back area of the car, and took a screw driver, and slid it along the inner hatch catch, and found the safety latch and released the hatch. Then I took the inside off, and disconnected the handle device from the inside. It was rusted, and broken. I went to Kia, and bought a new one and reinstalled, after greasing the new one up. Took me a while, but they wanted 280.00 in labor, so it was well worth it.
Just be patient and go slow. A good metric socket set will be the best thing, with a regular and phillips screw driver.
Good luck

Try smacking down on the hood with a open hand. You may want to have someone inside to pull the lever while you hit on the hood.If you do get it open spray everthing down with a good lubicant.Well good luck and hope this helped.

2012 Kia Rio cannot get the hood open the cable is off the lever in cab, any help??

Shoot PB Blaster or some other spray lube through the grille and up towards the latch. Then use a pliers to pull the cable. Once you get it open shoot the latch with spray lithium grease and work it in. A rusted corrorded latch is what makes the cable break off the lever

Will a hood from an 09 Kia Rio fit a 06 Kia Rio?

The only way to know for sure is to have them side by side to compare the measurements of hinges & hood latch.I would do this before I purchase.

Try this it worked for me. Use two people, one pull the lever inside vehicle and the other lifts up on hood at same time. It might take a couple try and if this works spray latch with wd40. You also could have a broken cable

How do i open the hood manually the latch is broken. i have a black covered cable wire and the silver part of the wire is showing. i pull the latch nothing happens to release the hood

OK, if the cable is the part that broke AND it broke at the handle, then you can use a pliers or vise grip to grab the end and pull on it to pop the hood, if it broke somewhere inside the cable, then you will need some needle nosed pliers to reach under the hood and grab it there. if it broke off at the hood latch itself, then you will need to get/ make a hook or pushing rod to engage the mechanism directly to release the latch and then replace the cable the latch looks like this:

Hood latch on 05 kia amanti wont release hood how else to open hood

Have some one hold the hood release lever open while you push down on the front of the hood. You may have to repeat this a few times and the latch should release. After you get it open make sure to lube both the latch mechanism as well as the cable. This should take care of your problem.

Broken hood cable for a '07 kia optima. how do I get the hood open?

I think that it is unlikely that the cable on a car that new has broken. More likely a sticky latch. Have someone push down and then lift on the hood while you are pulling the release handle.
Hopefully it will open , be sure to lube the latch mechanisim up with something before you close the hood so that it works next time.
