Open Question

Citreon C3, was driving along and anti pollution & oil warning lights came on, pulled to side of road and car died. Now won't start

Have read reviews and it see it may have something to do with fuse box or battery. Topped up oil, checked fuse box, lid was open which i closed but no obvious issues. Remove battery terminal to see if I could rest warnings, once connected again the battery light now appears and others now now not showing. Still wont turn over, played around with the fuse box again and now back to anti pollution and oil warnings lights appear replacing battery warning. then goes off. Seems to alternate depending on whether i play around with battery of fuse box. Will return to car tomorrow and check battery replace if needed but all other electrics etc still work fine, any other suggests? online forums suggest replacing the entire fuse box, but unsure what the root cause issue is and what needs to be fixed,.

long shot when message says guages and the vehicle shuts down it may be going into protection mode i would check fluids on the four wheel drive units like isaid longshot hope this helps

Probably nothing whatsoever to do with you checking the dipstick. On the golf when the warning light flashes, you reset it by opening the bonnet. That is why you think that when you check the dipstick it resets, when in fact it was opening the bonnet. Check your bonnet switch

sgt mac 1981, It sounds to me like the internal voltage regulator in your alternator is going bad. To check this, if you have access to a volt meter, put the black lead from the meter on the negative terminal of the battery and the red lead to the back of the alternator. Take the rubber boot off the large wire on the back of the alternator and place the lead on this wire. You can get the same result by placing it on the positive side of the battery. Take a reading when the vehicle is idling. A good alternator will put out 13.6 to 14.6 volts. Turn on the headlights, the windshield wipers and the interior blower motor on high and take another reading. Have someone step on the gas pedal and raise the RPM's to about 2000. Take another reading with RPM's raised. Take another reading as the engine goes back to idle. If any of these readings exceeds the limits for a good alternator then replace the alternator. Anti pollution light comes on once car has been driven for twenty mins or so

I had a problem with "Unblock diesel filter and Anti-pollution fault". After reading a few answers for this I decided to take car into the mountains for a good workout. Usually my trips are short and often therefore the exhaust was not getting hot enough to burn off the diesel residue in the Particle filter. In 40 mins of 3,5000 revs mainly in 3rd gear nothing showed up on the computer. Think this problem is sometimes caused by the engine not getting hot enough for long enough.

Anti pollution system fault light is on.

If the Anti pollution warning light is coming on the possible causes are endless. If the car is driving ok then that is a good sign, but please remember that modern management systems can mask problems quite well. The safest advice is to get it looked at and see what fault codes are appearing and then a diagnosis can begin, as leaving it is not going to be a good thing, it can go from a minor problem to more serious issues. At least the light is not flashing, which usually means an emission compliance problem and even more serious, but even so I would advise protecting your vehicle by getting it checked out as soon as possible to avoid potential damage.
A fault in the ignition can cause an engine misfire and unburnt fuel gets into the exhaust causing the anti-pollution light to be triggered.

Check the ignition system for signs of damp or loose connections.------- I suggest get the car scanned at autozone service center.Its absolutely free to get car scanned.This will show the problem if you receive the error code.-------- Thanks.Helpmech.

Where is the anti pollution filter on a citreon c8? we replaced diesel filter and it keeps saying to unblock filter, and anti pollution keeps coming up

its in series in the exhaust system, but check you have particulate fluid in the vehicle first before replacing the filter

Driving down road car will loose all electrical, start cutting out, shift into low gear & die. After boosting car seams to be charging just fine. I have had in the shop many times for this - can't find...

My car would die on me without warning, it seemed to be the transmission. My dashboard would light up and and the car would cut off. When I pull over to the side of the road the car start up fine but will not go into gear (will not pull).

I'm on my 3rd transmission I hope the problem been solved now.

Are you close to any Mitsubishi dealership? They can look at it and give you an estimate.
