1998 z3 alarm & immobiliser info

My Z3 was recently stolen but thankfully the police recovered it with minor damage however my insurance are refusing to pay out because they say the alarm was not set. Can anyone tell me if the alarm or immobiliser sets automically.

1998 Z3.. Manual Trans shudder under acceleration in 2nd gear as it nears 2000 rpms, then goes away as it approaches 2500 rpm's.. Any suggestions?.. Thanks

It could either be the flex disc or drive shaft center bearing. I had the same problem on my 98 Z3 and I replaced both and it took care of the problem.

it probably does. you will have to contact the dealer and see if they have any advice on what you can do to fix it.

My car alarm goes off for no reason

I have the same problem with my Z3 alarm going off, a local BMW specialist has traced it to the pitch sensor which has been damaged due to a water leak, the wires are also corroded. They have quoted £200 to fix it, but advise that the water leak is sealed first because it'll just get damaged again. I've had a look round and it appears the water is getting in by the off side light cluster via the boot gutter.

Bmw z3 alarm system problem

The alarm system is located behind your glovebox. The sensitivity portion should be mounted on the rear portion of your glovebox, while the electronic portion plugs in directly behind that. Unplug and play.

Could be the immobiliser.  Do you have the original keys?  If your key does not have a remote unlock, it's likely to be a "spare" key, which doesn't have an immobiliser chip in it.  If you take your VIN to your dealer, they can get you a new key - at a cost.  I've been quoted over $400 to have a key replaced.
Hope this helps.
