It is more difficult to diagnose this without looking at live data and performing component tests. Your symptoms suggest a worn out Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. There are other possibilities. Low fuel pressure, vacuum leak, poor compression or over due tune-up could be the source as well. Lack of spark from spark plug, coil and/or wire. I hope this helps. Please write back and let me know. Good luck.

SOURCE: wont hold idle will start with foot depressing gas pedal will run with foot on gas but stalls when foot removed

Check and clean Idle air control valve. Make sure its responding to signal as well. Also make sure ther are no vacuum hoses disconnected. This may not be a "cure" but it's a good place to start.

SOURCE: car wont stay running unless foot is on the gas

Withoutknowing if the check engine light is on it could be a variety of things including but not limited to the o2 sensor, throttle positioning sensor, and the MAF and MAP sensors. Best diagnosed by using an OBDII scanner to scan for codes. If no codes are present I would then check for the pressure coming from the fuel pump to make sure it is still functioning.

It should be your brake light switch. There is a little plate welded to the arm of the pedal that has a hole with a rubber stopper. The rubber stopper is most likely missing, or damaged. You should be able to take a flashlight and see the plate and the switch. If the hole is plugged up, you will need the brake light switch, if not, replace the plug.

85 HONDA ACCORD WONT STAY RUNNING UNLESS PUMPING GAS NOT EVEN FULL THROTLE

You have a single fuel injector in it right. Try right at the end of the gas pedal cable at the engine there is an electrical plug and a little device that goes around in a circle when the gas is mashed. That is the throttle position sensor. Try unplugging that and if there is no difference in the revving then the throttle position sensor is out. If that is not the problem, then plug your engine into a an onboard diagnostic reader. 85 is an obd1.

How to bleed clutch master cylinder on a 1995

It takes 2 people. Open the bleeder on the slave cylinder, hold your finger over it while the pedal is pumped, releasing the pressure when the pedal is down.. Once it starts pushing fluid thru, close the bleeder, pump 3 times, open bleeder with pedal down. Repeat till clutch feels good. If you are replacing the master cylinder, bench bleed it 1st. Be patient, this all takes awhile.

Car wont stay started unless foot on gas pedal

This could be a lot of things. IT could be the injectors or the fuel pump pressure, it could be the air intake, vacuum leak, etc.

I have a 90 accord lx/dx.I replaced fuel filter, air filter and now the car won't stay running and once it does start after running it about 2 blocks if you let off the accelerator it putters like...

Have your engine scoped out by a reputable service shop. Was it running better before you replaced those items? Have you done a tune up lately? Did you buy bad gas? Are your fuel injectors clean? Is the fuel pump going out on you? Are your spark plugs and spark plug wires good? Are their any sensors that may need replacing? I have a 1990 Honda Accord and the car just wants to keep taking my money. It needs too much love to keep any more.

Car won't start and stay running at first start-up. then after 10 to 15 minutes it starts and runs fine.

Hi. Sounds like the gas filter. If this happened in the summer it would be pressure lock in the gas tank.

I have a 1995 Honda Accord ES and the breaklight stays on. What could causse it?

The chances are that your brake light switch is faulty, it's located on the brake pedal support bracket, disconnect the wires, if lights go out it will either be the switch needs replacing or switch contact in relation to foot brake pedal needs readjusting

My Accord LX doesn't start, I turn the key and the car appears to be choking...

Check the timing belt to see if it's broken by removing valve cover and upper plastic timing cover. If it's broke at the bottom you might not be able to tell unless someone turns the motor over once and the cam doesn't move. Or you can pull on the belt until it comes out or if it is really loose. Another thing to check is the Main Relay under the dash above your left foot/gas pedal. It's mounted above the cruise control module. You can get in there and tap it while someone is turning the key on to start it. If it starts, you have found your problem. Replace it.
