Any idea where i can download a picture of how the power steering belt goes as i have to change mine, it snapped tonight

Removing power steering pump from v8 windsor


Section 11-02A: Steering Pump, Power, C-II 1996 Aerostar, Ranger and Explorer Vehicles Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Pump and Pulley SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Steering Pump Pulley Remover T69L-10300-B Steering Pump Pulley Replacer T65P-3A733-C
Removal
  1. Disconnect the power steering return hose (3A713) at the pump and drain fluid.
  1. Remove the power steering pressure hose (3A719) by unscrewing connector from the pump.
  1. On the Aerostar 3.0L V-6 engine (6007), loosen the drive belt tensioner (6B209) and adjustment bolts.

On Ranger 3.0L V-6 engines, slacken belt tension by lifting drive belt tensioner in a clockwise direction. Remove drive belt (8620) from under drive belt tensioner and slowly lower pulley to stop. Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley (3A733).

  1. NOTE: If the drive belt requires servicing, refer to Section 03-05 .

    Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
  1. Remove the oil dipstick tube.
  1. Remove the power steering pump support (3C511).
  1. Install Steering Pump Pulley Remover T69L-10300-B on the pulley.
  1. NOTE: Do not apply pressure on the power steering pump rotor shaft (3B559). Pressure will damage internal thrust areas of the power steering pump (3A674).

    While holding the remover tool nut stationary with a wrench, rotate the inner spindle of the remover tool clockwise until the pulley is pulled off the power steering pump rotor shaft.
  1. Remove the bolts attaching the power steering pump to the A/C compressor mounting bracket (2882).
Installation
  1. Install the power steering pump on the A/C compressor mounting bracket. Install and tighten attaching bolts to 41-61 Nm (30-45 lb-ft). On 4.0L engine, tighten to 47-64 Nm (35-47 lb-ft).
  1. Position the support on the A/C compressor mounting bracket. Install mounting bolts and tighten to 47-64 Nm (35-47 lb-ft).
  1. NOTE: Fore/aft location of power steering pump pulley on power steering pump rotor shaft is critical. Incorrect belt alignment may cause drive belt squeal or chirp. Make sure pull-off groove on power steering pump pulley is facing front and flush with end of shaft ± 0.254mm (± 0.010 inch).

    Install the Steering Pump Pulley Replacer T65P-3A733-C and install the power steering pump pulley.
  1. Install the drive belt on the power steering pump pulley.
  1. On the 2.3L I-4, Ranger 3.0L V-6, and 4.0L V-6 engines, position and rotate drive belt on engine. While lifting drive belt tensioner in a counterclockwise direction (clockwise on Ranger 3.0L V-6), slide drive belt under drive belt tensioner and lower drive belt tensioner to drive belt.
    On Aerostar 3.0L V-6 engine, position the belt idler pulley (8678) assembly to give the drive belt the tension specified. Refer to belt tension check in Section 03-05 . Tighten the drive belt tensioner and adjustment bolts to 47-64 Nm (35-47 lb-ft).
  1. Install the power steering pump support, if removed.
  1. Install the oil dipstick tube.
  1. Install the pressure hose tube nut and new Teflon® wagner into power steering pump valve outlet fitting (3D654) and tighten to 41-54 Nm (30-40 lb-ft).
  1. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump, and reposition the clamp.
  1. Fill the power steering oil reservoir (3A697) with Premium Power Steering Fluid E6AZ-19582-AA or equivalent fluid meeting specification ESW-M2C33-F. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel (3600) from left to right without hitting stops to remove air from the system.
  1. Check for leaks and recheck the fluid level. Add fluid if necessary to proper level as specified in Section 11-00 .

hi from uk the cambelt/timing belt comes as a kit ie timing belt and tensioner cost £50 here in uk ? it is not too difficult diy job approx 2hours the engine must 1st be set to TDC number 1 firing then at this setting the cam cog mark is a hole drilling in the web of cog and should line up at 12 oclock upwards and using a mirror look thro drill hole and you will see a vertical notch/groove behind on font engineface this is correct mark the crank cog mark lines up with aother mark on engine front face at approx 12 30 pm oclock ? if now set you slacken tensioner bolts and push t/pully away to left from belt ? then remove belt next remove complete tensioner assy after undoing bolts then fit new tensioner push t/pully to left from belt run and lock bolt/s recheck t/marks then fit new belt from c/shaft in anticlockwise rotation when fitted release tensioner bolt and allow to tension belt push t/pully onto belt and lock up tensioner bolts20=27 Nm rotate engine manually for four turns then recheck marks ? should still aligne then re assemble torque crank bolt to =140-150 Nm A LITTLE HINT ? b4 you remove the water pump belt ? slacken thefour 10 mm headed bolts (spanner size) that secure w/pump pully to pump it will be easier to halt rotation of pully if you holt belt tight by hand this pully has to come off to remove c/belt covers same for power steer belt which is also driven from the w/pump pully the power steer pump slide adjuster has a 12 mm bolt you slacken and best done with open end spanner ? after slackening the pump mounting bolts/nuts underneath pump hope you can follow this info/tips wish you good luck from uk

How to change belts


1.) slacken alternator bolts..
2.) pus alternator forward,,
3.) remove that belt (TAKE NOTE WHERE IT GOES)
4.) slacken compressor or power steering pump,,
5.) push forward,, remove that belt (TAKE NOTE WHERE IT GOES)
6.) replace bolt belts and tighten back slackened components,,, use a bar to pry the alternator (power steering or compressor ) back to create tension on the belt before you tighten back the bolts..

PS TAKE CAREFUL NOTE THE POSITION YOU REMOVE THE BELT FROM AND REPLACE NEW ONE ACCORDINGLY!!

How do you install a power steering belt on a 2000 Hyundai Accent? specs; 1.5l I4, sohc, 5 spd manual.


hi from uk easy enough job first disconnect battery earth lead then there is a slotted bracket thet is like on alternator adjuster using 12 mm spanner open end slacken off the bolt that is just behind thewater pump pully then the mounting bolt for the pump you can see below the pump ? slacken this now if you pull up the belt it will slacken and you can remove it this belt is small as it drives the p/steer pump from the outer pully of water pump fit new belt ensuring it fits correctly in grooves ? now using a suitable bar / flat tyre bar suitable position bar between p/steer pump and its mounting bracket that is bolted to side engine block lever gently to tighten belt and whilst holding bar leverage with belt adjusted ? tighten the adjuster slide bolt release bar and recheck belt tension ? retighten the lower mounting bolt also 12 mm job done! hope this helps ? ps you do not say if you have A/C but this is run of crank pully to a/c pump so no problem

Most cam belts need to be changed every 60,000 miles. I would change again somewhere around 126,000.

POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY PUTTING BACK TOGETHER


if u mean the fan belt ??,the power steering pump have tensioner undo the bolt and move to close to the belt if u wanna try on the belt on if dont ,try using the alternator tensioner after that tight it all up also make sure the belt is tighten up not slacken

first of all you need to find the power steering adjuster you will find this beside power steering pump there is a locking nut on pulley slacken that then slacken off adjusters once you have done that you will be able to remove belt same applies for slackening alt belt make sure you slacken of locking bolt otherwise you will bend adjuster bolt.hope this helps you.

look carefully as power steering belt has to be removed and A/C if fitted,slacken bolts on power steering pump then find the tensioner bolt and slacken it off and then push pump unit back..Same sort of thing with the A/C pump but i think but cant remember but i sure this one has an idler/tensioner to slacken.

Have a problem changing the belts.


slacken fixing bolts then look for the adjuster its like a long threaded bolt,but you must slacken the retaining bolts on the pump or it wont move
