Question about Ford Futura
G,Day from Australia,
Total loss of power steering on EL Futura.
Fluid boils over. No loss of fluid.
The first thing to do is, isolate the problem. Crack the
the pressure line loose at the back of the power steering pump. If you can get at it, if not, jack it up put a stand under it and try to loosen it from the bottom.Or you can loosen the pressure line into the
rack.(or steering box as I don't know the year of the car) Snug up the line, and put on safty goggles.
Have somone get behind the wheel. Make sure the
ps fluid is full. Start the car and slowly loosen the line
a bit so the fluid shoots out have your helper turn
slightly to the right and back to center, then slightly
left and back to center. Each time the wheel is turned
the pressure should increase, if that happens, the
problem is in the rack.(or box) But if you have weak
pressure from the pump, the pump is bad.
Hope this helps. G,Day

Testimonial: "Thanks for that. Nothing at all coming out. Even when completely out! Will replace, fix or adapt another pump out of a Holden VR... Thanks again"
