A Common place for the code is normally in the glove box or behind the radio itself, which probably means removing the radio, sometimes you can pop your head under the dash with a mirror and light though.
If you enter the code wrong a few times and it won't allow you to reenter the code, you can disconnect the Negative battery cable for a few minutes and it should let you retry.

No power going to my radio after changing battery. Wanted to check fuses for the radio but I bought the vehicle without an owners manual. I need a fuse diagram for 2004 Ford Expedition please. Thank you

Radio is usually wired as an accessories fuse on the panel. Is it possible there is power but you need to re enter the security code?
If you don't have the paperwork you may be able to get the code from an online site when you enter the make model serial number. It might cost a couple of bucks? Next time you disconnect the battery, make up a couple of leads with croc clips on, wire them to a small 12v battery and connect them to your batt leads before removing the main batt and the small battery will have enough power to keep your radio/ alarm etc working when the main batt is removed.

Changed batt. and now radio needs code.

If the radio is a factory fitted unit you will have to supply the vin number of the car along with proof of ownership to the vehicle dealer and they will have it on record. If it is an after market unit then may a radio techi will be able to help. If you have the owners hand book it may be written in there or in the warranty section

I accidently removed the face of the stereo on my 2000 Beetle while trying to remove the unit. It lights up, but looks like it might need a code to work?

In your VW manual you should have received a booklet that pertains to the radio. Written on the inside front cover of that booklet is a 4 digit number. If you do not have this booklet you will need to call VW to get the code (I don't know if there is a cost associated with this or not.) When you turn your radio on (usually after interupting power to the vehicle) you will get a "safe" message on the radio face plate. After 3 seconds you will get 4 numbers. Enter the assigned 4 digit number by using the preset radio buttons 1-4. Once you get the number in, push the portion of the "scan" button until you get an audible "beep." Your radio should be back in business.

Locked radio on a 1996 Mitsubishi montero need help replaced batt. and radio locked

You just need to call the Mitsubishi dealer. He will give you the code. If the radio has been removed before, someone may have written the code on the radio housing. You'll have to remove the radio, and the information the dealer needs in on the radio housing. Ir if you purchased used, someone may already have written the code in the owners' manual.

No problem, the dealer's used to helping out with these codes, no fee involved.

I think I have solved my problem. To input my radio code I need to take the front cover off is that right ?

No, wouldn't have thought so. When you bought the car you should have been given a little booklet for the stereo. And in it there should be a code (1234 eg) which can be typed in with the station buttons on the front of the stereo.

How Do I Get My Radio Out OF Safe Mode? Anyone?

Hi.

The radio goes in safe mode when the battery gets disconnected, or if for some reason the radio lost power connection.

To get the radio out of safe mode you will need the anti theft code.
This is available with car documentation, in first page of the in car entertainment booklet, or on first page of the car booklet (not the car manual).

Once you have got the code, do the following:

  1. Hold down both the AM/FM and the SCAN button at the same time, until the display shows "1000".
  2. Use the buttons 1,2,3,4 to change each of the digits until you get displayed the same code as printed on documentation (ensure that it is the right one).
  3. On some radio (programmable models), the default code is "1111" or "1234".
  4. Press and hold the AM/FM and SCAN buttons again until the radio is starting.
  5. If you fail twice the code, the radio will lock up in safe mode, and you won't be able to enter the code again.
  6. If the radio is locked, or if the code is lost, the unlock can be done at the nearest car dealer, usually for a small fee, or for free.

Regards.

Batt. installed started fine now will turn over but not start

Sounds like the computer is in lock down. My sister has a 99 cavalier and used a cut key to start her car and a couple days later the car would not start. Tried everything then had to get a gm computer to reset the ecu. I have heard about the anti theft systems in GM cars that can cause this as well. Look into it if you cant figure anything out. There might be a code to input into the radio to take it off as well.
