Bring the entire drive-shaft assembly down to the drive-shaft shop. They will rebuild and rebalanced it you you. it could cost around $300 or more depending on what needs to be replaced. The dealership doesn't carry replacement drive-shafts because there can be slight differences in the length.

Hi, well first you need to see if the yokes that the u joints are damaged or if it was just the u joint that broke. if the u joint broke you can just replace the u joint by using a u joint press found at any parts store, or you can take it to a repair shop to have changed out.

I need to replace a u joint

is this a 4x4? do you need to replace the u joint in the hub behind the front wheels? or in the drive shaft?
you can perform either one with some patience and a few tools, the driveshaft is retained by 4 bolts on the rear differential, remove them and pull the drive shaft forward toward transmission, then let down towards ground, and pull the shaft out of the back of transmission,(put down rags as some fluid may leak out).
find a suitable workbench to sit the shaft on preferably in a vise. Next remove the snap rings in the end of the shaft that still retain the u-joint (flat head screwdriver, tapping them out of place with a hammer usually works).
Once the snap rings are removed use a brass drift (solid shaft) or a deep socket that fits the diameter of the joint and doesn't overlap on to the shaft, with some heavy force strike the drift or socket with a hammer repetative working the joint out, when the cap comes off of one side, switch to other side to drive the joint in opposite direction in order to remove other cap, when the other cap comes out the actual joint will slide and remove on an angle.
When installing the new joint put just the joint section in the reciever part of drive shaft, carefully align and install the end caps and drive them in with a socket, once seated install 1 new snap ring, flip the joint over and install the other cap,
take caution to make sure the needle bearings in the cap do not become dislodeged, and that both new snap rings have seated in the groves or you will lose the u-joint after a few miles.

I need to remove my front axel on my 1989 toyota camry

Jack up car and apply e-brake. car will roll if one of the front tires leaves the ground. remove tire , spindal nut and lower ball joint bolts. remove axle from hub then use a prybar to pop it out of trans. the passenger side will have a braket holding axle to engine , remove bolts from braket or squeeze snap-ring to rmove axle from braket.

snap rings hold these shafts in

How to disconnect front drive shaft

The half shafts are held in place by a small snap ring on the splined end of the shaft. They can be stubborn, but you should be able to dislodge it using a pry bar placed between the inner CV joint and the trans. Be careful to stay clear of the output seal on the trans. When reinstalling make sure the shaft snaps in all the way.

Drive shaft from front part of motor to rear will not come loose after removing all the bolts

Put a pry bar or long screwdriver between the inner joint and the transaxle and give it a snap. It is held in with a snap ring. When reinstalling make sure it snaps in all the way.

Removel of a 1996 front driveshaft

You should be able to separate the drive shaft from the CV joint, once you pull the boot back. I believe the shaft is retained to the inner part of the CV joint by a retainer clip, this is what you'd typically find. Just replacing the CV boot alone makes separating them necessary.

2005 buick rendezvou front passenger wheel wobeling after sharp right turn heard a popping sound

Is this vehicle front wheel drive..? If it is then you have a CV joint about to collapse !!! The CV or Constant Velocity joint allows the drive from the transmission to drive the wheel during turns. The joint is made up of balls and sockets and as the sockets wear, they elongate. Eventually, the balls try and lift out of the sockets and this is the popping sound you can hear.. Replace BOTH joints because if one has failed, the other one will too. If you don't replace them, they can snap and you may lose control and crash !!! Replacing them is relatively easy. Remove the drive shaft from the transmission or gearbox by releasing the large nut at the outer side of the disk rotor. release the upper ball joint which will allow you to pull the shaft out of the rotor and the transmission. The joint is held onto the shaft by an internal circlip and a good tug on the joint will allow it to slide off the shaft. Refit the new joint and refit the shaft. Make sure the nut at the rotor end is TIGHT!!!! and make sure you refit the locking pin if it has one..
