Question about 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I gotton a fuel pump replaced in my 2001 ford explorer twice using a O'reily part, but not a original Ford part. Each time my car has stop on the highway, stop pulling, engine turned off, and it would not stay crunk do to fuel pump burning out again. Do i need to get the original ford part to make my truck work properly, or can than be something else causing my truck to burn out the fuel pump?

Could be a faulty main relay, try working the fuel pump by switching you ing key on and off ten times slow you'll hear the pump and it should stay on for a little bit , is it doesn't stay on change the relay, they also have a cutt off switch its a round red buttom press it dowm its aford

Did you change the two (2) strainers found on the fuel pump?? Also, has the fuel filter been changed in the last 60,000 miles.

It may need a major tune-up, but more likely you are experiencing a fuel delivery problem, or have water or other contaminant in your fuel. Replace the fuel filter, then check the operation of the fuel delivery system (including the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump itself). If all systems in the vehicle test good, suspect contaminant in the fuel (especially if your vehicle was allowed to sit unused for a period of six months or more), and replace all fuel with new.

Modern gasolines include ethanol, which can cause water vapor to accumulate in your gas tank. Use fuel system water remover twice a year to prevent fuel contamination.

2001 ford explorer sport keeps blow fuel pump fuses

The most common cause of this is that the fuel pump is drawing to much current due to wear and a possible burned fuel tank connector at the tank. To replace the pump you must raise the truck up and remove the fuel tank. Also replace the fuel filter which is on the inside of the frame on the drivers side. Use a rag to cover the fuel line when disconnecting it with the required special tool.

92 ford explorer wont start when it is hot. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel regulator, fuel relays, IAC valve, ran a new wire to the fuel pump, and changed the fuel twice.

Take it to Ford and have them run their troubleshooting machine on it.Costs about 70 bucks and sometimes if they do the repair,this cost is removed from the bill. Ask Ford. don-ohio

Motor dies when you have a the A/C on and you try to stop at a stop light.

This is a common problem with the 2001 Ford Explorer. The first solution is to clean out the idle air control valve. This solves the problems for 90% of Explorers. If that doesn't do it then the fuel filter is clogged and needs to be replaced. Thanks for using Fixya.

My 2001 ford explorer sport will not start

It doesn't sound like a fuel pump. Probably not the starter either. More likely coolant is getting into the cylinders. This can come from a bad intake manifold gasket or a bad head gasket.
