Question about 1995 Geo Metro

I took motor/tranny out of well maintained/well running 1994 Geo metro xf and installed them in a 1995 geo metro LSI. everything went well i had to use the 1995 intake and throttle body due to wiring differences. The engine now runs very rough at idle and when cold. did not do this in the 1994. Should i have also changed the ECM?

Yes, because the specs are different... most manufatures change the specs on vehicles every four years, so 90-94 is most likely all the same, but then you will have 95-99 an so on an so on.. Good Luck

Where is the fuel pump and fuel filter located on a 95 geo metro lsi
Lay down along side the car by the drivers door. Look under the car and there is the fuel filter. It's strange by that's where it's located. Is your car a 1.3 L 4 cyl ? I know those engines like that back of my hand if you need further help.

Motor runs at 4000 rmp when started

Auto or stick tranny???
the USA 1995 was the last car to use TBI injection (throttle body)
the LSI option, then had a 4 cylinder. in 1.3Liters.
and works totally differ. than any 1.0L

Have you inserted the Diagnostic jumper wire and looked at the
FLASH codes yet?
choke? on 95? what country is this, ours are not carbs. in 1995.
so post country. ours are all EFI in USA.
3 cylinder? 1 liter? or which engine/?
on any USA Metro, 1L , when first started, it has 2 valves. to control IDLE, (cold , is iAC) hot is ISC, The cold start valve opens farther the colder it is (how cold was it). but usually is limited to about 2000 rpm
max.
this engine, TBI, uses a MAP to control fuel mixtures, and
any air leaks (aka; vacuum leaks) what so ever, will cause too fast idle.
so on MAP cars, you get to find out what is leaking AIR.
1995 has the new better , idle control speed motor, (ISC)
this can be stuck open.
that new TPS, did you do the calibration correctly?
it must set right. or idle will never be controlled.
finding the cause, takes hard work, and hands on testing
A/C fast idle broken
A/T transmission fast idle, device, broken.
Air leaks (add huge list of possibles and cracked hoses here)
Throttle stuck
ISC or IAC bad.
very hands on to find this, done many.
TPS on indexed corrrectly or not calibrated.

How do you remove and replace a water pump on a 1995 geo metro lsi
Ok here is the low down.
To replace the water pump you must remove the timming belt as well as many other items.
Are you mechanicaly inclined or would you be better off having a pro handle the job? They have the tools to make it easy.
Let me know i'll give you step by step if you want it, but it is a long procedure.

Headlights keep flickering
Check the wiring to the headlight. Maybe where the headlight wires meet the headlight are loose. Sounds like a wiring issue.

No. Geo Metros use hydraulic lifters which can not be adjusted. If you Metro is making excessive valve noise, the lifters are probably worn out or the oil level is low.

Sounds like the converter clutch is engaging. Maybe converter selonoid? Should get put on scanner to be sure.

Need fluid specs for 1992 Geo Metro LSI convertible 1.0L
I always get either the Chilton's Manual or the Haynes Repair Manual (my favorite) for about $20 - $35 at Auto Zone or Pep Boys or any other Retail Auto Parts Store. These give not only fluid specs [capacities and recommended types], but also step by step detailed instructions on repairing anything wrong with that specific model of car, based on a complete tear down and rebuild. A must for used car owners.
