According to your information it's faulty mass air flow sensor, check mass air flow sensor first, when the Idle rough just disconnect the air flow sensor wiring socket if it's better than when it's connected it's faulty air flow sensor, mass air flow sensor have fitted between air cleaner housing and throttle body, you can see wiring connector been connect on it you have to turn it anticlockwise and remove it. when you fix it back do the reverse order, if it's faulty replace air flow sensor. is this information helped you?

99 eclipse 2.0 N/A erratic idle, low idle , sometimes doesn't even idle when started it just dies unless you give it fuel. Have replaced throttle position sensor 6 times. What else can cause it?

If check engine light is on get the codes. The best that can be done is a guess without them my best guess would be idle air control motor (IAC).

2001 Taurus 3.0 dohc idles high sometimes and once in gear transmission seems to shift at idle.

I think it may feel like that because it is idling high. For you high idle problem there are a few thinks you can look at one a vacuum leak. Two look at the throttle body plate and idle air control motor. If the throttle body plate are dirty the seat for the idle air control motor my be dirty. I would try cleaning the throttle body.

I have a 95 1500 with the 350, sometimes it starts and runs great, other times right after it starts it will shoot up to 2000 rpm, the service engin soon light comes on and if you drive it, everytime you...

Try removing and cleaning the idle control solenoid on the throttle body. They get contaminated with carbon build-up and gives you an erratic idle. It's the round solenoid that screws into the side of the throttle body. When you remove it you'll see a spring loaded plunger that needs cleaning with throttle body cleaner and you'll need to clean the seat inside the throttle body as well.12_24_2012_2_14_19_pm.png

When i start my 2001 ford taurus it idles high for a short time then goes to normal

That is because the transmission is timed with the throttle position sensor and the idle air control valve on automatic transmissions. If the position sensor starts to fail you will have usually high, low, or erratic throttle and it will act as if the transmission is slipping. Have a mechanic clean your throttle body, replace the gasket, change the IAC motor, and throttle position sensor. Its what they should do to your car anyway for a full tune up but its rare anyone does it anymore. So i always do my own and you definitely feel the difference

P0508 code on 2001 Honda CR-V how do I troubleshoot

Hello,

P0508 = Idle Air Control System Circuit Low

Symptoms:
Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Engine hard to start - Rough or erratic idle speed.

Causes:
Dirty throttle body - Electric throttle control actuator misadjusted or damaged - Faulty Electric throttle control actuator - Intake air leak - Poor electrical connection to the Intake Air Control (IAC) valve.

Solution:
If there are no intake leaks, clean throttle body, adjust engine idle and erase engine code. If the code comes back you may have to replaced the Electric Throttle Control Actuator (Motor) to repair the problem.

I hope this helps!

My vw passat (an automatic) stalls when I have to come to a stop a lights, or even sometimes when I have to slow right down to an 'almost' stop - any ideas what the problem might be ????

Probably the IAC which control the idle but usually you will see some erratic idling as well. Pretty sure something to do with the control of idle and fuel. Maybe you need to clean throttle body and raise idle some might help. Have IAC checked.

1996 Ford Thunderbird V8 4.6L Idles High. When starting up engines does not idle down after warming up. When driving car just wants to speed up.

check your throttle body make sure all the springs are connected. your throttle body may be nasty inside and may need cleaning, it may be getting stuck. Throttle cable could be sticking or disconnected (there are two one pulls and one returns to idle IIRC)

also you should really search www.tccoa.com and become a member there if you are not already.

Erratic idle speed sometimes dies

Check your idle Air control on the throttle body. They can get dirty and need cleaned or replaced.
