Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

1 Answer

My 2001 Aurora Idles low. It kind of spudders and pulls a bit as if the engine wants to cut out. It actually Idles around 600 RPMs, very sluggish like not getting fuel or something. Also after a long period of acceleration when you go to slow down the RPMs dropped very quickly, sometimes to 300-400, even if still doing a semi high rate of speed like 50=60s, just when you spot accelerating and actually apply break. The air filters, oil and fuel filter is good and new as well as plugs and cables ( dont know what they are called, but not wires ) Fuel pump is good to. The dash lights and headlights also dim at slow down, so does radio volume but I was told noise compensation was a feature on the stereo. I was wondering if its the Alternator? Had diagnostic several times and no codes for an alternator issue came up. It does say Gasolene to lene and piston sensor.

Sounds like a vaccum problem, do you mean lean condition and I don't know what your talking about "piston sensor" there is no such thing, give me the engine code #
Open the hood and listen for a hissing sound, now move your hand over the area where you think the hissing is coming from, slowly feel around vaccum lines, don't get to close to moving parts, if nothing found, shut down thw engine and remove the intake hose to the throttle body (looks like a small carborator,) it will look like a round metal circle, in that section spray carborator cleaner into the IAC (idle air control, it's a small mechined cut out onside the throttle body) the car might be a little hard to start at first, please send me the engine codes.

Hs small miss or sluggish idle

Have you run compression test? Checked for clogged or leaky injectors? Not sure what you mean by "sluggish idle". 630 rpms seems about normal in park, fully warmed up. If this idle problem is in gear, you may have torque converter problem not cured by disabling lock up clutch. Broken or bent blades inside converter can exhibit strange symptoms.

2001 GMC safari engine noise- sounds low, like spun rod bearing. BUT.... seems actually QUIETER under a load. NOISIER at idle. Oil pressure is low at idle. I was trying to do a "relearn...

not a bearing problem as they get noisier under load or rpms , not quieter
oil pressure always drops around 10% of full pressure at idle more if the oil is of low viscosity ( 5w10 or 15) use a mechanic stethoscope to determine noise source at idle

Poor fuel mileage; sluggish possible mis fire idle has very low rpms no indication of check engine light at higher speeds freeway speeds runs good but poor fuel economy wheres the power?

Could be a lot of things, but if you have not replaced the air intake plenum gasket, this could be causing some of the issue. Spraying corborator cleaner around the gasket with the engine running should cause the engine to smooth out for a short period of time - just a diagnostic.

2001 aurora idling high and low act like it wants to cut off. put it in drive goes with out pressing the gas

if you dont get an engine light on the iddle control valve(its on the intake manifold)is to blame for this kind of problem, do a resistance check using a Fluke Meter(you can get a cheap digital muntimeter at Harbor Freight set it to the horse shoe then do the reading) if you get an "OUT OF LIMIT" reading it needs to be replaced.

2000 Daewoo Leganza Engine trouble

Sounds like an engine rebuild is required. The head may be warped and the knocking sound may be a cam.
