If this is a cummins like I suspect it should work fine because cummins uses a stand alone engine controller mounted on the engine its self

Should I but a new engine for my 2002 or just scrap the car. I have a 2002 that I just loved until the engine blew a year ago. Told it was the engine sludge problem. Is it worth getting a new/used engine...

I'd buy a new engine. Just make sure that the one you get has relatively low miles on it. Secondly, take the oil pan off and check the sediment there. Clean it out and put it back on with a good oil pan gasket. After the motor is installed, change your oil every 1,500 miles for the first little bit. This will help clean out anything that was in the engine. Also, use a good grade of gasoline for the first little bit... Shell or BP 89 or 93.

Low psi and knock at start up 2002 dodge dakata 125,000 miles, check engine light on

sounds like you have failed rod or crank bearing, this is causing the loss of oil pressure.

What is the average cost to replace a radiator in a 1997 Hyundai lantra. Are these low maintainence second hand cars?

Depending on the mileage of the car! Lantra can be a 'high maitenence' car. has it overheated due to the radiator leaking? They blow the head gasket fairly easily! aslo front struts seize. If engine hasnt had regular servicing they sludge up and wear out engine components, engine becomes very tappety and may eventually fail. It all depends if it has been cared for. hopes this helps. 2001 Forester, Rough idle and engine loping driving at low rpm

I had a similar problem on my 2002 Impreza RS 2.5 (same engine and engine control system). In my case it was the O2 sensor on the intake manifold. This happened at 34,xxx mi. so it was covered by the warranty. Replacing the part is very easy. (two bolts and a wiring harness). Obviously I would start simple and cheap and work your way to expensive and difficult.
From my understanding its all caused from the engine missfiring. If its been a while or never, I'd change the spark plugs first. (stick with the Subaru Parts plugs, I went after market and the dealer claimed the plugs were not the correct "temperature" and had to pay for the new plugs and install although they did it without my permition. Thats a whole nother story).
Could also be the manifold pressure sensor.
Either 02 or manifold pressure sensor may cause intermitent check engine light.
Where I live Brookline,MA , Autozone will run a free diagnostic on your car by hooking up to your ECU and will give you the trouble codes and possible remidies. Of course there are no guarentee's but it will point you in the right direction.
Good Luck

2004 DODGE DURANGO, 5,9L ENGINE

the message is appearing because a sensor in the transmission, usually in the transmission fluid, detects higher than normal temperatures which is usually a result of increased friction which isnt good. I would get the sensor checked before you get the transmission worked on.

Engine light on 02 dodge neon

If you bought it from a dealer, take it back & speak to them about scanning for codes & if they are going to repair it. If private, I guess your on the hook for having it scanned for codes & diagnosis.
