Question about Mazda MAZDA6

Mazda 6 2.3 petrol 2002 if i select 1st gear too quickly it crunches in but if i put it in easy teres no problem it only happens in 1st gear and i put a new clutch in after the problem started and its still the same any idea of wat part is gone in the box

1st gear syncromesh Is worn or broken. This usually is caused by forcing lever in when clutch is not disengaging fully, or changing gear with out disengaging clutch.

I would be bleeding the air out of the clutch system first. The only other thing is that the clutch plate is in the wrong way around and the centre springs are hitting on the flywheel blot heads .

Reverse gear crunching

Hi. Maybe a vacuum leak or a auto choke issue keeping the idle high. If the idle is too high then the reverse gear will crunch.

Crunching when changing gears on a pajero

check the oil level of the gearbox, if level is low or oil is too thin will cause it to crunch. put an 80w90 gear oil into it if needs fill or change/ also check the clutch is fully disengaged. maybe clutch hydraulics have air in the system, this will reduce the travel of the clutch fork and not fully disengage the clutch. to see if its the clutch hydraulics select 1st gear push in the clutch and start the engine, if it starts to creep forward check out the hydraulics. if all this ok, prob be the synchro rings internal in the gearbox

Before you race out and replace the clutch which will not be cheap for your car have a good look at the slave cylinder for leaks . Check and bleed the clutch system and have the clutch m/cyl checked. Crunching gears means the clutch system is not disengaging properly

your gear selector linkage cable has come adrift from the linkage bracket just below the battery tray ,you can temporarily fix with two cable ties ,but will need to replace one of the two cables one is for neutral and the other is to select gear

My 2004 audi s4 makes gronchy noise when i put it in to 2nd gear when cold whats causing it?

If I've understood your problem correctly.....when changing from 1st gear into second the box is giving a metal on metal crunching sound?

This would be the syncromesh ring which is not equalizing the speed correctly.
The problem usually happens when there is wear on the same part.
Check to make sure that the correct transmission fluid has been used in the box.
To alleviate the problem and delay the time when it will require attention, use the double de- clutch method of changing gears, especially when the transmission is cold.
The double de-clutch is carried out in the following way.

When in gear and changing from 1st gear to 2nd, change into neutral and release the clutch and then depress again before selecting 2nd gear....It is not required to rev the engine in the neutral position when changing up....
When changing down rev the engine when the shift lever is in neutral for each change.

You'll soon get the hang of it and stop the crunching sound, protecting the box at the same time....

It sounds more like a clutch problem than tranny. You can try the oil in there, but I think the clutch is shot. Check the fluid in the clutch master and make sure it is working right, no slipping, crunching, grinding, the jerking sounds like oil on the clutch. Check it out.

Low gears wont slide into gear when in traffic jams or hot.

Sounds like you do need a clutch adjustment.Do you have a hydraulic clutch?Check beside the brake master cylinder and look for a SMALLER size master cylinder which may be low on fluid.(PUT ONLY BRAKE FLUID IN TO FILL IT).Hopefully it is just low and the brake fluid fill will restore your clutch adjustment.

Trouble changing gears 1st and 2nd

If the clutch feels firm with no play u may have worn syncronizer's in the trans, take it to trans shop and have them road test it, they will not charge in most cases.

Have a 1999 mazda 323 that keeps chugging in every gear,have changed plugs twice and petrol is fine

traced the fault to the mass air flow sensor which would need replaced,was advised to use a carb spray to clear any debree 1st and see what happens,well cars going great now so a 4 quid spray has saved me 150 quid
