Oil light never came on, I decide to put 4 quarts due to it being 10 months since change, since doing so low oil light has come on

4 quarts means that youve got one serious leak and your slicking up the roads for every body... you should get out some tools and see what you can snug up to slow the leak, as for the light, your driving a cheap vehicle so what do you expect ?

I have noticed a clunk type noise/feel in the rear end after taking off from a stop. Tonight a really bad grinding/clunking sound both in drive and reverse, ion gear or neutral. I've been reading...

if the diff is not leaking oil there should be no reason to be low. If you hear a noise in neutral with the truck not moving, its not in the rear end. it may be the trans or transfer case.

Unexplainable engine oil increase?

If you mean that the oil level is getting higher on the dipstick, chances are you either have excessive fuel going in there or you have an internal coolant leak that is getting into the oiling system. Both conditions are serious and can result in severe engine damage. have it checked immediately.
If you are suddenly using more oil than usual, it can be due to bad valve stem seals, worn valve guides, ring wear or blocked engine venting system or an external leak. Not as serious as first problem but should be investigated as well.

2000 Lincoln ls where do you put break fluid in

The brake fluid goes in the brake master cylinder. (Fluid Reservoir)

There are pictures on pages 197 and 198 in the Owner's Manual (depending on which engine you have) they will show you exactly where this reservoir is located.

If you do not have an Owner's Manual, you can download a FREE PDF version: click HERE.

Also note that you should NEVER have to add brake fluid to your car. If the fluid level is low, then there is a leak in the system that MUST be diagnosed and repaired IMMEDIATELY! Failure to immediately repair a fluid leak in a brake hydraulic system can lead to serious personal injury, property damage, or DEATH!

I have a 1999 Lexus LS-400. Appears to have charging problems (ABS, VSC, & Battery lights on). While running if I disconnect red terminal, car remains running (alternator). Starter checked was OK....

firstly check with your car scanner ,read for fault code, as my experience the alternater fault due to leak in alternator regulator ,check with multimeter for your voltage, at least with light and air con on, it should at least 13.6volt.normally with alternator light on when engine running.conform alternator, replace one thank you

If the engine in a 1992 Eagle Talon shut down due to overheating while it was at idle could this have caused alot of serious problems or just a bad radiator fan and thermostat?

If it idled till it got hot and then shut down(meaning it died) it most likely has pretty bad damage. Do a compression test on the engine before dumping any serious money into it. If the compression on all cylinders is pretty close(like within 10%) you`ll probably be OK, if its more than that you probably have some pretty serious internal damage.

Please take a moment and rate my answer......Thanks

When proportioning valves fail do they leak?

The porpotioning valve is one of the more reliable automotive devices on our vehicles & in 40+ years of every kind of problem I have seen, I've never seen one actually be bad. If it's leaking, that's probably a thread & line problem more than the internal valve system.

If you happen to need one due to damage or leaking that you can't stop due to being misthreaded & such, you'll want to get one out of a good salvage vehicle to save some serious $$$.

I have a lincoln ls 2000 the bttaery keeps draining the alternator is good front end damage hood and driver side light needs to be replaced what could be the problem?

Is there's sufficient damage to the hood, the hood switch that turns on the hood light is most likely damaged or tripped on due to the hood damage. This would drain your battery fast. Removing the light unit may interrupt the power. Otherwise, the switch needs repair.
