Top 20 Kenmore 65942 Electric Dryer - Page 10 Questions & Answers

Based on symptom and details, the control has detected a component failure. Since your model does not have digital display window in order to display a fault code, it will flash the four indicator lights of

Drying, Cool Down, Wrinkle Rid (Press Saver), and Clean Lint Filter will flash the number of times for the first digit of the code and the START indicator light will flash the number of times for the second digit.

Take separate counts of each indicator light, then repeat to confirm in order to be accurate in identifying the proper error code. The code is obtained by counting the number of times the lights flash. Example E24: The four indicator lights would flash twice indicating the 2 and the START indicator light will flash four times indicating the 4. The four indicator lights and the START indicator light

start flashing at the same time. The control will pause for 2 seconds, then repeat the code.

The failure is likely because of a faulty thermistor or because the heater is not working. It could have a broken heating element or a burnt wire connection at the control board. I would begin by accessing the thermistor and disconnecting it. The thermistor can be tested with an Ohm meter. The thermistor should measure approximately 50,000/5K Ohms at room temperature.

The heating element is located behind the drum and it can be disconnected and tested for continuity with an Ohm meter.

NOTE: Disconnect the dryer from the power supply before servicing.

yes, unplug it,get a putty knife and slide it under the top control panel on each corner, there's two clips one on each side, then when you free up the control panel there's 3 1/4 inch screws, remove them and slide the top panel forwards, there's 2 phillips screws that hold the door switch in place, get a thin tip screw driver, slide it into the plastic wire connector to separate the switch from the harness.i'm pretty sure this is how you get the top off.go here, open top and console and you'll see the clips on the top panel, then go to cabinet parts and the door switch is the common one it's number 41 on the look up part WP3406107 hope this helps you out,

I would check Kenmore Dishwasher Thermal Fuse W10402110
RepairClinic Item #2443847 ' Whirlpool OEM Part #W10402110 Price $23.00 This will require removal of unit and some disassembly This may or may not be problem. You might want to weigh the options have it repaired or buy an new unit . If you fix this unit that is no longer made you will have a an old unit. In my experience dishwasher are not worth repair.

This is the heating element that has failed. They are about 100 dollars to replace unless you call a service tech out to your address. Then it is more. The model number you listed does not show up on any of the major appliance parts warehouses.
