Cuisinart DLC-10S Pro Classic Food Processor - Page 2 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

it is either the seal around the blade shaft that is worn (but if it is worn so much that liquids can leak, then you probably heard the machine vibrate more than normal or sound screechy). Or it is the gasket at the bottom of the container that is not seated well or is out of shape. Goodluck, Macgivor

The mechanical parts will ALWAYS outlast the plastic parts. If you call Cuisinart, they will give you the price for the replacement parts that you need. If you find the price unacceptable, you can take your chances buying the parts cheaply off of eBay, but beware - the seller may be selling parts that have the exact same damage that yours has.

Good find! The instructions can be viewed online, and the video can also be ordered:
Go to this page for the manual - the model is not the same, but this model operates exactly the same as your food processor:

Go to this page for parts:

Remove the work bowl from the base of the food processor, and separate the bowl, lid, and pusher sleeve.
Plug the base into the wall outlet, turn the food processor ON, and then use a pen to press in the dark grey or black button on top of the base of the food processor - if you hear some kind of noise, then your motor is still good.
Put the work bowl on first, with the handle facing the front of the food processor.
Put the lid on, with the hollow feed tube facing the back of the processor.
Put the pusher sleeve in the lid, with the sliding lock switch facing the front of the processor.
Your processor should now turn on.

If your food processor still does not turn on, call Cuisinart and see if you are eligible for an in-warranty repair - it has a 3-year warranty.

Good luck!

It usually goes something like this, with minor variations depending on model number:
1. Remove the work bowl completely from the base
2. Plug the food processor in and turn it on
3. Use a pen to depress the dark grey/black button on the base – if it spins, proceed
4. Put the work bowl on the base with the handle facing the front of the food processor – slide the work bowl until it locks - the white tabs show in the openings on the bottom of either side of the workbowl
5. Place the lid on the workbowl with the tab slightly left of the center of the workbowl handle – slide the lid counterclockwise until it won’t slide any more
6. Place the pusher sleeve in the feeder tube of the lid with the lock facing the front of the food processor (may vary depending on model)
7. Slide the lock to the right into the locked position
The food processor should now work

Unfortunately the CHM models no longer have replacement parts. If the workbowl parts says something like DLC-7 or DLC-10, then you can call Cuisinart and get replacement parts. CHM models would require finding somthing on eBay.

Try cleaning the parts with olive oil ( let it sit a while to soften the cheese) then with mild dish detergent. The oil softens the cheese and allows the soap to dissolve it.

Go to the cuisinart website and you can buy replacement parts. You will have to buy the entire shaft not just the top but it is still good!

I was able to replace my pieces thru Small appliance.com I ordered new parts and the directions on how to remove the old stem and put the new one on.

Put a little vaseline in the rim of the new stem. Use a wooden block and a hammer or rubber mallet and lightly tap the new one into place.

Cuisinart called two weeks after the fact to say I have to send them the machine.....

ah! well my mother just tried using her DLC-10S 7 cup food processor and she also encountered the same problem. It worked perfectly fine when she first used it around Christmas time but not anymore.

After almost smacking the hell out of it we discovered that there is a plastic tab on the lid towards the handle side. This plastic tab actually pushes a lever through the cup and into the base of the food processor.

New Bee actually mentions this above. The problem is that the flimsy plastic tab in the handle isn't stiff enough to push the lever down anymore. I'm amazed it worked the first time.

This is very much a design flaw by Cuisinart as there's no way this plastic tab would ever last.

Now there is a small opening in the case right above the plastic tab. To get our food processor going we just pushed a chopstick down on the tab and held it in place while the food processor runs.

This is very much a temporary solution until we get a new food processor, obviously a different model.

This is the kind of thing it would be very difficult to fix without being there in person. Do you still have the manual? It's possible there's some well hidden button or latch you have to hold in while you remove it. I tried to find a manual online, but was unsuccessful. I did see where you can purchase one - though I doubt you'll want to pay the $16 for it. Hello, Sally -

Make sure you have the work bowl properly placed on the base and the lid properly attached to the work bowl. I often have trouble getting the work bowl inserted in the base of our food processor and also have trouble getting the lid fitted into the bowl properly.

Since I have no idea which model of Cuisinart food processor you have, I am unable to advise you further.
