need a lot more info, BUT to me, 1 Change the Trans fluid WITH filter, and check the inside of the Pan for Grit, I would say you have a lot in there from the "Clutch discs, Second the Transmission MOST likely has over 160K in miles, I assume your Torque Convertor solenoid switch is bad, Which is why you are running Slow and the trans has no power/ Slow speed, it's running in both gears 1ft & 2nd at the same time so your beating up the transmission a lot .. You need Service..

This could be a linkage problem from your shifter down, or if this happened after you changed oil and filter something was disturbed during that time within the transmission. If these suggestions are not helpful you may have an internal malfunction within your transmissions valve body, or something in gear system that broke. Either way an internal inspection is warranted. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

-Before replace the sensor. You need to check the oil pressure first
If good pressure then the sensor is bad. If no pressure the possibly
the oil pump is bad. If so replace the oil pump.

Good luck

-Check transmission fluid first. If low add more to full level that indicator. If fluid is full then the shift solenoid is stuck or broken wire
If you know about car. you can replace it by yourself. If no it will cost you between 300-600 dollars. (Because It's inside the valve body)

Good luck

May as well pull the transmission & transfer case
& rebuilt them both

Then on re install diagnose the electrical systems, so
as not to ruin your new repairs

No its not normal. It sounds like the clutch pack for 2nd isn't bleeding off its pressure when making the shift to 3rd quick enough. Depending on how the valve body is laid out this could result into a slip or very slow engagement into 3rd. To correct requires trans to pulled and torn down. You could replace the valve body first but usually this type of problem is in the clutch drum.

Have you checked the automatic transmission fluid level??. Has the fluid and filter ever been changed on the car??? If that is okay, then you're going to have to go to the shop to find out what's wrong..
