The pilot light went out and there is no gas
The newer GAS RANGES have a SAFETY switch on them that the gas will not flow if the ignitor is not functioning.
Check, your IGNITOR.
OH yes........... Check and make sure some one has not turned your gas off under the range or where it comes into the house. It could be damaged, or someone is playing a joke on you..
Good luck,

Oven knob spins in circles no control
There should be a metal spring cip ring around the spindle of the knob which keeps it tight around the spindle on the switch. Sounds like its snapped. Compare it with one that works, they should just pull off and push back on, but with a little bit of resistance.

What rack is considered the middle of the oven on an electric oven with five sections?
Experienced cooks maintain all ovens are different and it will take a while before you and your oven will get used to each other.
A thoroughly preheated electric oven has little temperature variation especially when the heat is circulated by a fan, in fact some ovens have a heating element at the bottom of what in reality is an insulated closed box. In this case the lower shelf could be the hottest - an electric oven might have two or more heating elements though a basic (budget) oven could have only a single element at the top so it can double as a grill and clearly the top shelf would be somewhat hotter...
A gas oven has the flame at the bottom to the rear of the box and it must be vented and so within the cabinet there are temperature variations in spite of the internal convection currents and these are broadly hottest at the top and coolest at the bottom and in addition there is likely to be variations between the farthest reaches and the door.
