Those lines are usually caused by an edge connection on the actual display. The connection can come loose or get corrosion and then cause lines. To repair this means that you will be taking the unit apart all the way down to the screen and pressing along the edges to see where the bad connection is. There are you tube videos on the problem in general but you have a large screen and it requires special handling and care.

For anyone else with this problem...I ended up getting a replacement transformer from ebay and swapping it out myself.

You have to remove the back panel of the TV, unplug the board from the harness going to it, unscrew the board (both via the set of screws going directly through the board and the set going through the plastic piece on the opposite side that, as far as I could tell, the board is glued to). This plastic piece (running the length of the board) has receptacles for the backlight bulbs, so be gentle getting it in and out. Don't forget the screw in the middle of the board.

De-soldering was a little tricky. My soldering skills are not great, so maybe it was me. But it certainly seemed to be a little challenging to get it all out. Having so many terminals probably didn't help (a capacitor would have been easier). Eventually though, I did get it out. Soldering in a new one was easy. Be sure to check continuity between the terminals of the new part and other parts of the board using the traces as a guide once you're done.

After that, simply re-install the board and put all hardware back in. Like I said before, be sure you re-engage the receptacles of all the backlight bulbs by pushing down at each notch on that plastic part of the board.

Hope this helps someone else...

Honestly, I've NEVER checked a site selling replacement screens for samsung TVs but a friend bought recently a replacemente screen for a 22" monitor (not samsung) for 52 USD on e-bay. Presume 28" shoud be somewhat more expensive.

See ad for 26" screen panel on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SCREEN-PANEL-T260XW02-V-S-FOR-SAMSUNG-LE26B450C4W-26-LCD-TV-/251970000757?hash=item3aaa951775

Contact this site, a well known website which sells replacements

TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

I guess, just guess, that the problem is that when you've got a damaged screen, might be more expensive replace it then to buy a new one and sell your old TV/Monitor for parts!

If it plays other Blue Ray discs OK then either the disc is faulty or it is the wrong region. If it previously played, then my bet is that the disc has a scratch or dirt on it. If you have another blue-ray player or you have a friend with one try it on that or theirs.

Try removing and re-seating the ribbon cables, sometimes they don't make proper contact, just grip the ribbon top.

If not, take it to a service engineer. The 'let's see if replacing this fixes it' idea is a very expensive way to repair televisions. Many replacement boards that you buy are from stripped machines and may be faulty when you get them. Only dealers can return them. You need to be able to diagnose at component level. The course is 2 years full time education
