    1) Open your iPod as a flash drive (you'll see it from the "My Computer").

    2) Enable hidden folders and go into the folder "iPod control".

    3) From within the "Device" folder, find the file titled "_locked" and rename it to "_unlocked".

Then just disconnect the thing and you should be on your way. If this doesn't work (I haven't tested this on any other iPods), deleting the file instead should work

You might have to restore your ipod. Connect it to iTunes and hit restore. This should wipe everything off. You will then be able to re-sync it with your itunes.

The only way to unlock it is to restore your ipod. This will unfortunetly wipe your ipod clean and youll have to put everything back on it but at least you'll be able to use it again.

to restore it plut it into the computer and in itunes click your ipod under devices and under the summary tab, click restore.

Try going in itunes, right clicking on the song, and click create AAC version. The song may be in the wrong format which is why it won't finish playing it. Hope this helps!

Just had the same issue with my GF's nano so i phoned apple and got the following solution:

Flick the button/switch on the top of the nano on and off 6 times leaving the orange bit not showing.

Now hold down the menu button and the middle button for 15 seconds until an apple icon appears. SORTED!

now the speaker turns off when you plug the headphones in plus rest assured it doesn't reset the ipod and remove your songs.

I don't know exactly which iPod model you have (your picture shows a 5th generation nano, if you have that one). You can find the manuals in electronic form on Apple's site:
