don't waste your money on this unit. You can get them on Ebay for as low as 30.00 now. but I suggest that you save up your money and get a real machine like a ipad. you get what you pay for. be carefull.

I would remove all power, including battery. Remove the HDD and RAM. Power it up with the power it up with the power supply. If you get a screen, add stuff until it fails. It may not fail.

Dear Alex,

There is a YouTube video that shows how to update the BIOS for your PC. I'll be posting it right away, but first I have to tell you that, while looking for the answer for your question, I came across to some forum posts regarding the 1401 BIOS update presenting problems with USB and other peripherals. maybe you should first have a look at it:

Unless you have a problem with your laptop that really need a BIOS update, you should remain with your actual version of BIOS. Anyway, the video is posted at:

Hope this info may be of help!

It should have a hidden partition that contains the data for your OS, more or less press F9 while your computer is booting and look for something along the lines of Factory Default, or Factory Reset. or Reformat.

Another thing you could do is use an optical drive and a windows disc to re-install everything. But you might need an external disc drive for that :(

I hope this helps :)

you replace them both, there is no magic reconditions on batteries like this. one is the big battery and other is the coin cell.
youtube has the 1005ha dismantle if you want to watch.

Try Safe mode.
Then once you're in, run your virus checker.
I like WebRoot.
Delete your browser cache, clean up the disk.
And email to yourself any files that you really want to keep so that you won't lose them in case the computer really goes down...

Install the WEBcam driver.
You can download the WEBcam and device drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard/computer/laptop, and make sure you select drivers that matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link to their WEB support site : -

It'd be a good idea to check if the laptop is actually booting up or not getting anywhere at all. You can check this two ways, fairly accurately.

First of all, the best way to check is to plug your laptop into another external monitor, you should be able to do this with the VGA connector on the left side of your laptop. You can do this with any monitor that's used with a PC. See if the monitor turns on when the laptop starts.

If you don't have an external monitor to try, the numlock, caps lock and scroll lock keys on your keyboard should show that they're active by the LED that shows they're on or not. Turn it on and let it boot up (give it a few seconds or minutes to be sure), then press numlock or caps lock or scroll lock and see if the LEDs for those keys turn on or not.

If the external monitor works, or the LEDs are functioning as normal, it's likely that the monitor has a loose connection inside or that the monitor is entirely broken. Since the monitor is flashing white when you turn the laptop off, it would sound to me that the inbuilt monitor is connected but not working.

If the external monitor doesn't work, and the LEDs for capslock etc don't respond, then it's likely that something else is wrong with the laptop entirely.

It will be helpful to know what happens to narrow down additional help.
