This could be one of a few things... First, Windows 8 is a completely different animal from Windows XP! Try reloading your printer driver in Windows 8. If this doesn\'t work, you need to clean the paper pickup rollers at the front of the printer (where the paper first feeds into the machine. I use a Q-tip moistened (not sopping wet) with rubbing alcohol... gently scrub the whole pickup roller and then the feed roller next to it. Check carefully (with a flashlight) for any shards of paper that might be blocking the paper path. There is also a sensor flag (small finger of plastic) sticking up that the paper must hit to let the printer know that the paper is feeding through. If you do not see the sensor flag, it is either jammed or has been broken off when a piece of paper was pulled backward out of the paper feed area. First reload the printer driver, and try to print. If it doesn\'t print, check and clean the rollers and look for the sensor flag.

Has the receiver gotten faxes (from other senders) since your problem started? It sounds like the receiving fax is not answering the call. Also to determine if it's your problem or the receiver's problem send a test fax to someone else.

Set the date and time:
The current date and time are shown in the display when the machine is on and ready for use (Ready mode). The date and time will be printed on all faxes you send.
1. Press Menu.
2. Press Left Right Arrow to choose SET DATE & TIME and press Start/Enter.
3. Press Start/Enter when the display shows Date Format.
4. Press Left Right Arrow to select either Europe (day month year) or USA (month day year) and press Start/Enter.
5. Press Start/Enter when the display shows Date & Time.
6. Set the date and time. You can move the cursor by pressing Left Right Arrow.
7. Press Start/Enter when the date and time are correct.
1-AM 2-PM will display.
8. Press 1 or 2.

If it is registering a paper jam, than more than likely there is some sort of obstruction in the paper path that is obscuring one of the sensors. My recommendation, manually feed a piece of thick card stock through the paper path and try to force any debris out. Also, you can try blowing a can of air through the path, this act should hopefully free any debris or dirt that is blocking the jam sensor.

If you have a voicemail set on the same line then you may only be able to use either the fax or the voice mail if you want to the fax then change the rings to answer on the fax to 2 (setup button->basic fax settings->rings to answer->press ok on 2) keep the mode to auto mode. However if you want to use both the voicemail and the fax on the same line you might have to get a DRP (Distinctive Ring Pattern) from you telephone company.

this is just the transition speed and line condition and you dont have to worry about it , the machine will give you an error code if the faxes dont go through alturnativly contact the reciever of the fax to check that they have recieved it
