Push ctrl+alt+delete on your keyboard to bring up Windows Task Manager. Check application's to see if your media player is listed there (for example if you were running Winamp, look for winamp in the applications). If there is nothing listed there check the processes tab for the name of your media player + ".exe". If you find it right click and click end process. If you either can't find it in that list or it does not shut down then keep the window open and follow these tasks: First know where the file is located (right it down). You can do this by right clicking it and going to properties, copy down the "c:\...\...\filename" location. From windows task manager click 'file' at the top left and click run. It should bring up a black dos program. Click the Windows Task Manager again and go to explorer.exe and end process. This should shut down whatever file is being run. Switch to the black dos program and type "del c:\...\...\filename". This should bring up a prompt where it will ask you if you are sure. If you are positive this is the right file then go ahead with the deletion. If it gives you an error then ask another question regarding booting into the dos system before windows comes up. If it does delete it (and it should except on rare occasions) then type in "windows" and it should bring back up explorer and you will be all set. Hope this works and it should work for any file that refuses to be deleted because its in use.

You will have to download the song files to your player again. Plug the player into your USB port and turn it on. The player should now be visible in "My Computer". If it is not there, leave it plugged in and re-boot. Your operating system will detect the player and load drivers for it. Now it should be visible as a removeable drive. All you need to do now is download your song files to this 'drive' using copy and paste.

as far as downloading Itunes that should not be a problem ... Go to the apple website and download itunes on your computer. You can back up your original music on either a disk or an external hard drive and reload them onto your computer. As far as your sync cable you will have to get one to use the shuffle... hope this helps

All you do is get another charger or have the apple store fix it for you. Once that is done, plug into your computer and device, and a file should open for it.
Click open to view with files.
Once that is done, you can drag all the songs from your computer to your device. Once is done, safely remove your device with the icon down the bottom right corner.
Then it should be done.

First you need to convert the songs on the CD into mp3 music files then you copy these mp3 files to your ipod.
There are several freeware rip programs on the Internet that rip CD songs into mp3 files.
Do a Google search for these rip programs and install the program on your computer.
You can use Windows Media Player, it can rip music CDs and convert the music files into mp3 music files.

It will show as charging, but it will not get to the gree light, because you have a tosted battery. I have found that rather than spend the money on a replacement, sell it ( e-bay ) and use the proceeds plus the money you saved, by not replaceing the battery to buy a refurbished. You should break about even, and you will have a new battery and restored ipod.

What generation is this ipod, and how long have you owned it?
If it is more than one year old; it is most likely that your batteries life has expired.
With this model it is recommended to replace the unit rather then the battery as they are so close in price.
