This can be a sign that the picture tube is starting to fail. If you feel comfortable working with the back off, try the following:

With the back off, locate the flyback transformer (part with large red wire coming out the top). There should 2 adjustments available on this transformer. Turn the top one (screen control) slightly clockwise, this should allow the set to work as expected. If that is the case, the picture tube is starting to fail and the adjustment has bought you time to find a new set. The lower control is for focus. Note: if you turn the control too much, the picture will be really bright and you will see the retrace lines as well.

Keep us posted.

They are dropping like flies -
Just posted this for the same set:
The sound; is it a click or a sharp snapping sound?
The first can be a relay turning on, the second is most likely related to a high voltage discharging.
If it is a relay, then the set could be trying to protect itself from an overload or the power supply has failed; the blinking ON LED is pointing toward that.
If it is a high voltage discharge (you may be able to see it through the vents in the rear housing) then it is possible that an accumulation of dust and household airborne contaminents has created a path that can be removed with some targeted cleaning.

Using a good light source, check for model information molded into the plastic rear housing. You may have to illuminate at an angle to see it clearly. Often, it is near the power cord entrance.

Picture int disappears leaving snow on screen
Resolder the Xtal in the tuner
No picture - screen is empty. Sound is ok
Check IC101 (BA7630F), if video signal comes to input (pin 1) but not present at output (pin 14) then replace this IC
Intermittent video or snow
Resolder points A, B, C, D in tuner PCB, check cold solder on tuner shield 2-106-349-21

Ed Im sorry tom have to inform you that a red light blinking is an indication that the main power supply is good BUT the sweep supply has a problem .. Most likly the high voltage transformer as well as the horizontal transistor is bad. if you have no solid state repair experience, you will not be able to fix this set on your own as we techs do gfo to school to learn the circuits in these sets and there are safety issues you have to know and equipment you have to have. sorry my freind but you going to need to call or take the set top a trained tech to trouble shoot as you cannot look at the board and see a problem. you have to troubleshoot the board and test the circuitry.

Your main power fuse is probably burnt out. Take off the back of your tv and check for the burnt fuse or burnt connections

Requires careful, meticulous soldering of horiz drive circuit +
rebuild power supply.....requires four parts......Horiz out xistor,
two converter xistors and one resistor....would you like part list?

heard a pop sound -- then the set went dead -- no lights, no nothing, and then there was a slight electrical burn smell coming from the back of the set :(

It's an old 32" set

Sorry, your CRT is bad.......rejuvenation might help,
replacement of tube not practical.....best solution..replace set...

Sony KV-32S45... | Answered on Dec 26, 2007

Your screen was magnatized.. try unpluging the set then plugging it back on serval times. turn it off and on but wait a min before turning it back on. each time.. Most tv have a special coil around the tube the demagnatizes the tube.. otherwize you can use a what is know as deguasser.

Take it to a shop... It's a good bet that the jungel Ic, crt driver Ic or something in the HV has failed. Could be also that the crt itself is failing. If that's the case a tech can test it with a B&K and know for certain.
Also, if you want to save a few dollars take it in to them, don't make them come and get it - it just drives the price up for a pu/del charge.

yes you have a bad vertical ic . i,ve seen bad conections on this ic too, it may not need to be replace its a ic that stands up 6 pins the numbeer on it starts with TDA

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your tuner sounds like its intermittant. Only way to fix it is to replace the tuner or send it out for an overhaul.. Now this is onlty if when you say the set blinks the picture stays but turns snowy and wavy or does the set blank off and on like its turning on and off. If thats the case could be a picture tube problem or a HV shutdown because of a vert fault or a driver problem in the Horizontal curcuit.

probably the tv has a loose solder in the board. this is normal especially when tv is aging. most of the components inside are emitting heat resulting to loose the solder. try to inspect and resolder if possible. but if you dont have the proper tools and equipment and you're not inclined with this kind of job, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!

Sony KV-32S45... | Answered on Mar 21, 2007

If you know all the saftey aspects about tv repair then your gonna need some special test equipment to troubleshoot this set. There are no real user serviceablew parts inside this tv as they are all soldered in and you cant tell by looking at them if they are bad. Theres lots of hi voltage inside these sets even afterv they are unplugged for awhile. if you know all the saftey issues your gonna have to first disconnect the horizontal output transistor and measure it with a good ohm meter. If it measures bad ythen order a hi voltage transformer and replace both at once. If you dont have this equipment or know how to unsolder and solder then you should call in a pro to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
