Nortel Contivity will work with the your D-Link router, however its functionality depends on the authentication type (AH will not work), NAT compatibilty mode, and disabling keep alives on the server. Contact your Network Administrator to find out how your VPN is configured. Step 1 Verify that you are using the latest version of firmware on your router. Step 2 Login to the Web Management for your router by entering its IP address (192.168.0.1) in your web browser. The default username is admin, and the password is blank. Step 3 Click the Advanced Tab to access the Virtual Server Settings. There is a list of pre-defined Virtual Server Rules towards the bottom of the page. Find the IPSec Rule. Click the pen and paper icon to edit its settings. Enable the rule, enter the IP address of the computer attempting to connect to the VPN in the Private IP field, then Apply the changes. Step 4 Create a new Virtual Server entry. Name the Virtual Server, "NortelVPN". Enter the IP address of the computer attempting to connect to the VPN in the Private IP field. For the Protocol Type, select Both. Enter 9550 for both the Public and Private Ports. Set the Schedule to always, then Apply the settings. Step 5 Access the Tools Page, then click the Misc button. Disable IPSec Pass-through, then click Apply. If the VPN Server is properly configured to work with clients behind NAT routers you should be able to connect to the VPN.

I am not familiar with this router but there is usually a reset button on it which puts it right again. Do you have a manual?
Otherwise go online to the supplier of the modem.

Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) allows discovery of UPnP enabled devices in a network environment. UPnP is only available on Windows Me and XP. If you are not using either operating system on any of your computers, or do not want to use UPnP, then it is recommended to disable UPnP on the router. Step 1 Open a web browser and type the IP address of the wireless router in the address bar (default is 192.168.0.1). Press Enter. Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the default password is blank (nothing). Click OK. Step 3 Click the Tools tab then click Misc. to the left. Step 4 Under the UPnP Settings section, select Enabled using the radio buttons to enable UPnP on the wireless router, or select Disabled using the radio buttons to disable it. Step 5 Click Apply and then click Continue to save the new settings.

Step 1 With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset. Step 2 Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release. Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure. Step 3 The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset. Resetting the router does not reset the firmware to an earlier version. It will change all settings back to factory defaults.

Hi,

This looks like the firmware has failed on the unit as a firmware reset displays 1-4 flashing.

You can try holding the reset in while powered on for 10 sec, failing that it would be cheaper to replace the unit. You can pick up cheap routers from a company called TP-Link which are ok.

Hope this helps!

Two options:
Since you cannot get a crash course in hacking Wifi networks, then you can either: 1) Reset your router's password by connecting a computer using a LAN connection (Wired) and choosing a new password (This is of course if you know the admin user and password).
2) If you don't know the Admin password then you have a button at the back of the router that is used to reset it. Press it for 10 seconds. NOT TOO HARD, it is hanging on a small hinge so if you press it too hard you will break it and then you will need to open the router...
after reseting your router, enter address http://192.168.1.2 on Internet Explorer and follow the Setup instructions.
Good luck.

Log into your router.
-> Open the "Tools" tab -> Click on the "Misc." button on the left size.
You will see the opion to disable the "Gaming Mode" the 5th one down. The color is a bit faded blue but you can see it just under "UPNP Settings".
-> Mark it on "Disabled" then hit "Apply" at the buttom of the page.
I usually recomment "Reboot" after you clicked "Apply". (Button at the top of the same page you are on).
Good luck.

Check ur cable between modem and pc. Ensure that led glows on ur LAN port of pc. Then from pc, try to ping router's ip address.
Ex: ping 192.168.1.1
If u receive response from the router, then the connection is fine.
Else there might some problem on ur router. Replace the router and try again.

Turn the router off.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect one computer to one of the 4 'LAN' ports on the computer.
Turn the router on.
Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press ENTER
Enter IPCONFIG /RENEW
Press ENTER

Look for lines of output like:

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.40.150
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.40.1

Open Internet Explorer.
Enter: http://192.168.40.1 (if that's the IP-address on your computer for the 'Default Gateway').

You should see a D-LINK "login" web-page.
Try an ID of 'admin' and a 'blank" password.
Once logged-in, you can check the router-settings, and then "configure" it.
