In most laptops, the CD/DVD disc drive is secured by one or two screws on the bottom of the laptops. Remove these screws and pull the optical disc drive from the laptop. On some other models, the optical drive is secured by one or two screws located under the keyboard. If that's the case, you'll have to remove the keyboard first. After that remove those screws and pull the drive from the laptop.

Honestly, I don't think it is a connector problem, unless your laptop was dis-assembled recently for servicing & the CD/DVD drive was removed & re-installed incorrectly.

If the CD/DVD drive's tray opens when you press the button on the front panel of the drive, then most likely the problem lies within the lens assembly inside the drive. The lens assembly is the part responsible for identifying & reading/writing from/to a loaded disc. You might clean the small round lens on top of this assembly with a lint-free cotton cloth & a lens cleaner liquid. But if this did not work, you will have to replace the whole CD/DVD drive with a new one.

I included here a link to a web page which could help you if you are going to replace the drive. It has some helpful photos & information:

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista devicedrivers for your model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true You can download thevarious drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, theywill then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install thevarious drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

Try to remove your keyboard and fix it back. Seems like the keys are getting struck. You could search in Youtube of how to remove and fix the keyboard back on the laptop.

This may be a defect in the graphics card, since the external monitor (is it properly connected to the VGA-connector and is the power on?) should be recognized automatically and display instead of the internal monitor. The behaviour of the laptop in case an external monitor is connected can sometimes be controlled via the BIOS, which is impossibile to do if the internal monitor or the graphics card doesn't work. I'm afraid that, if you can't reset the BIOS yourself, this may be a case for the repair service.

Available RAM is more important for speeding up your laptop than available hard drive space. Check your available RAM by:

  1. Starting the Task Manager (Right click on taskbar and select it)
  2. Select the Performance Tab
  3. Compare the Physical Memory vs Commit Charge numbers.

For example, my fast computer has 3600 megs of total physical memory compared to a commit charge of 1200 megs. Meanwhile, my older, slow computer has only 650 megs of total physical memory with a commit charge of 1400 megs. This means the slow computer is always making 'pretend' memory from hard drive space, and that is why it is so slow. This is most likely the case with your computer as well.

I hope that helps.

OK, it is most probable that this is a software rather than a hardware problem. I would suggest that you plug your HDD into another system, copy the data you would want to keep, and reformat your HDD.

Load a clean copy of the operating system you want to use.

This should do the trick, if not, let me know.

Kind regards

This error c0000135 can be very tedious. It is a Operating system error. Its not a problem with the computer.
This problem occurs when the file "winsvr.dll" becomes corrupt. This file resides in Root partition (Windows/ System32 folder. Usually when you have a corrupt file in Windows OS. It can be repaired by the Windows Installation disk. But in the case of this error you have to install another Windows Operating System like Windows NT, Windows 2000 or even Window XP on the same disk to access the files externally of your own Windows. Then you insert the Windows disk in the computer and repair it. As windows disk asks to repair while booting be careful do not let your Original OS get formatted. There is another method which can be a little difficult specially in the case of laptops that is you have to take out your hard disk and inserted in another computer and access your Windows from the Operating system of that computer and insert your installation disk in the computer from which you installed your Windows and repair it.

  1. Check the volume nob on either side of the laptop, or in front.
  2. Right-Click on My Computer and Click Device Manager to see if the Sound drivers are still present. Usually there will be a caution sign triangle under the device that is missing the drivers. If so, click on the device properties and re-install this driver. Follow the instructions, if Win XP, there will be an option to connect to the internet and search for the driver. Select it and let the system do its job. Make sure your Internet connection is active

Hi! Theres a shortcut that you can use. First key to press is the Fn (function) key. Look for the F keys above which has the signal sign. Press Fn followed by the Fkey that has a signal sign. This will turn the radio/transmitter on. Hope this helps and have a good one!
