Hello

Buy a smart chip resetter. It is available online for about $10.

Wipe clean the Epson cartridge using a paper towel. Pay special attention to the area where you attach the chip-resetter. Gently clean the copper nodes at the back end.

Clip the Epson chip resetter to the cartridge's back. Make sure the resetter's end with the button comes on the top.

Press the button on the top of the resetter and hold it for 5 to 10 seconds. This activity will restore the default OEM settings of the cartridge. The tiny LED light on some chip resetter models also indicate that the smart chip has been reset. The printer then recognizes the cartridge as full.

Remove the chip setter from the cartridge by pressing the release clip on the resetter's bottom.

Sound like you have a mainboard issue. It's time to replace this old workhorse unless you can find an old one with a good mainboard for cheap. A replacement printer is cheaper than the mainboard.

Hola.

pretty sure it's dampness in the paper, because a freshly bought **** works fine. (although strangely the old paper worked perfectly in a different machine! maybe some are more sensitive than others)

Check with the cartridges. If you are using recycled cartridges it has these kind of problems. Try aligning your printer from the software. If you have new cartridges than also you can try aligning and in troubleshoot option it could be 'recalibrating/recalibration' use this option. And the best would be use software assistance and try to uninstall and reinstall the printer.

You will either need the cd that came with the printer or you'll need to download the software/drivers at www.epson.com. You can click on the support link, lookup your printer model # and then download the files that are made for the operating system you are running. Place the cd in your drive, or open the downloads and follow the onscreen instructions. Once you have done this your printer will be ready for use. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.
