I have a Hp DV2550
lines in BIOS means what, it means the screen is bad.
end story. (or can be weak power pack, 19vdc 65watts(min) is it?)
BIOS runs with no HDD !! runs with no CDRom,
so that means it cant be OS related at all. ever. in this case.
HP Pavilion dv2550se Notebook PC (my guess at true name)HP does not support W7 on this plateform.that means , you are only own STEAM, with drivers. but if all you need is one driver to work, you can get that , that the maker of that GPU chip. This PC CAME WITH VISTA ONLY. EVER.THE PC DAY1 had 1 chips offered, one intel, other nvidia. we PCI scan all hardware to find whats there,so can you , or ask hp for that fact by telling them your serial number, we are not HP here its just a silly chat room here.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen
A VGA monitor is a monitor that uses a standard VGA connector to attach to your PC/laptop. A VGA connector is a small D shaped socket connector, about ½ inch long and ¼ inch wide. Its usually blue with three rows of holes (total of 15 holes) where pins from the mating connector match up with. The only other thing that may look like it is a serial port but that is easy to distinguish, it has two rows of pins for a total of 9.
What 24 sever is suggesting you do is connect another monitor to see if the problem shows up there as well. I?ll be surprised if it does since usually this type of display problem on a laptop more often than not is due to a defective connection inside the laptop screen area.
A quick test and perhaps even fix would be to grasp the right and left sides of your display while it is on (displaying the offensive lines) and gently twist like you were wringing out a towel. Again, and I emphasize, gently using only a couple of ounces of force. Watch to see if the lines disappear, get worse of make the screen flash or change. If you do then its likely cause is the connector from the LCD panel to the electronics has oxidation or a loose connection. If you?re lucky the flexing might even fix your problem, if not you will have to take it apart to find out exactly what is going on or take it to your local repair shop.

Red horizonal line on kindle screen
Your screen has a problem. No way to solve this problem by any software. If it is on warranty, claim service If warranty is over, I'm not sure it can be repaired, probably screen must be changed and it is quite expensive.
