When I push the SCAN button I get a message that
You need to set up the destinations in the Canon software. First launch the Canon Scan-Gear Toolbox. The Scan button on the scanner is the same as Scan-1 button by default but no software is linked to this button. Click on the Scan-1 button then choose Set. Then set your application that you will want to work on the scanned image. Select your application (Photoshop Elements, for example) - the exe file if using Windows. (You may need to browse the Program Files folder and then the individual application folder (C:\Program Files in recent versions).) Then click Open and then Apply to confirm this. You can also select the file type that you want the scans to be saved as in this settings window.
If you want to change the scan destinations, then click on Settings (on the far right). You will see the drop-down menus for each of the scanner buttons. Select the desired function for the scan button and click OK. (Scan-1, Scan-2 and Scan-3 can be linked to other software.)
I hope this helps.

I have downloaded the scanner
This was a problem with Mac's and this scanner (are you using 10.3 OS)?
Try unplugging the scanner then replugging it in, sometimes after the mac sleeps and is woken, the scanner will not be recognised (happened on XP and Vista PC machines as well)
also try using image capture on the mac rather than the canoscan toolbox software.
If you want to give installing the drivers and software another go, download the software and driver remover tool from canon's site before re-installing

Please check whether your scanner gets detected while connectiNg to your PC.
If not please check your cable.Did you down loaded the correct driver that is meant for your OS? Please check.
One more thing is the PCB at the bottom of your scanner is getting heated up?
Then it canbe a problem regarding your PCB. Just replace it

I have problems with TWAIN
I have many years repairing canon scanners so here is my suggestion to you.
I would first google Canon CanoScan N670U drivers. Make sure you download them from the official canon site the drivers are free. All the drivers have a date on them so download the newest drivers. Once the download is complete disconnect the cable from your scanner that goes to your computer then install the new drivers. Once there installed then connect your cable from your scanner back to the port on the computer. A window should pop up saying new drivers are being installed. Once this completes then I would re boot your computer and you should now be able to scan again. Also while your on Canon's website download Capture Perfect its free too and will help you with your scanning projects.
I hope this helps you out.
