If the compressor is off and the heat coil is on - this is normal for the "E" or emergency heat setting. Check for proper connections between the Heat-pump, furnace(heat source) and the thermostat and that the thermostat is capable of controlling a heat-pump with secondary/emergency heat units. Thermostats designed for this have 4 settings: Cool / off / heat / E(emergency heat). in the "heat" setting, both the Heat-pump and Aux heat work together to maintain temperature. In the "E" setting, only the Aux heat source is used. The "E" setting should only be used in extreme cold - when the Heat-pump can no longer produce heat.

Is it a heat pump? Is it a heat pump stat? Is ambient temp high enough to allow heat pump to run?

The CH01 era code would indicate a indoor sensor Fault

LG Heating &... | Answered on Oct 28, 2019

Fault Code 05

This fault code indicates a communication error between the indoor and outdoor units; this is usually caused

by wiring errors or condensate pumps connected to the inter-connecting cable.

The communication between the units is a fluctuating DC voltage commonly called a serial signal, it can be

easily lost if the wiring is not done correctly. If there is a communication error fault CH05 will appear within 5
mins of powering up the system.

The FL error usually means that there is excess water in the drain pan. Look for the drain plug cap at the bottom of the back of the air conditioner. Remove the cap and tilt the air conditioner so that any water in the drain pan will run out. If the room is extremely humid and the air conditioner is set to Cool, this is normal. To reduce the water level issue, set the fan speed to Low. If the air conditioner is in the Dry (dehumidifying) mode, try setting it to Cool. Alternatively, consider using a hose if your unit allows for a continuous drain.

Unplug the air conditioner for at least 10 seconds to reset the unit if the error persists. If the drain pan is dry or the error recurs before more water fills the drain pan after the reset, then the air conditioner needs service.

Please add a comment with the model number of the unit if you need help finding the drain pan cap. I hope this helps.

I just googled it and found an error code ch38 means indoor fan is not running, it's simple... Clean your filters people, it's not blowing enough air. Maybe it actually is the fan motor, it's too funked up now from not changing/ cleaning filter, or the wire came loose, I would put my electrical tester on the fan motor contacts and see if there's voltage during a call for cooling, if there's power to the fan but it does not run, your motor is dead, no amount of refrigerant will fix this so maybe call them back and have them do this
