Hitachi DZ-GX20A DVD Camcorder - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

The only reason that you have to finalize a DVD-R disc is so that you can play it back in an external DVD. Once finalized, you can no longer add motion video to that particular disc. Discs that are not finalized can still be played back when inserted in the DVD-camcorder.

Hi ron,
The first thing you should have done was to search online for "driver for hitachi dz-gx20a". Doing so would have got you a hit on a Hitachi library.

It should have a mini usb port behind the pop out video screen. You will find the exact model details under the battery.

eBay is the best place to look for things like this - you will find many of them for very reasonable, some aftermarket, some original.

Just look for a dvd player that will play dvd-r's . Lately I see most units will play both dvd-r and dvd+r's so you should really have no problem here. It is compatible as long as it's dvd-r . I am not sure about your dvd player night recording question. i think you might need to clarify that one.

Looks like Hitachi doesn't have any software available on line to do it. You will have to contact them to get one.

You can use abobe software for free to try to get them or goto Kodak.com and use their free software as well.

If it doesn't see your camera as a disk drive in my computer, you can get a card reader to retrieve the pictures that way.

Heres the owners manual if you need one:

Hi There, Impact damage could cause all sorts of problems. Some may be minor and some major. Unless your an electronics tech or you feel up to opening the unit, you may not know what your actually looking for. A repair shop might be your best bet. If you do open the unit, check for broken cct boards, poor connections especially around where the battery terminals are or where the external power supply plugs in?
Good luck, mr cicmo

-Press ‘Play’ on the camcorder and review the footage on the 2.5” LCD screen -Connect the DVD-Camcorder to your television using the supplied Audio/Video cables -Download the file to your PC using the supplied USB 2.0 interface cable(not available on DZMV730A) and view it using a Windows MPEG Player application that supports DVD recording format (.vro file extension). -Finalize a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc and play it directly through a home DVD player.

try to look at the bottom of the dvd camcorder and you may find it there. it is usually on the sticker that is sticked in the unit. You may also bring your camcorder to an electronic shop and they might help you find the model so you can buy spare cables. hope this helps.

pls try to connect the camcorder to your pc if you have a firewire and capture the audio recording. you can also download mymp3 audio recorder at download.com for free and record the music while playing. at this point, you can save the music to mp3 or wav file then burn it to cd if thats what you want to do so you can give a copy to your friends. hope this helps.

I have the same camera, and found out that the VRO file is just MPEG2. So copy the VRO file onto your computer from your disc. Once its on your harddrive, you can right click on it and go to properties. Re-name your file from VRO to MPG, making sure that you still have the original VRO file in case you need it for other programs. Once I change it to MPG file name, I can use media player to play it and I have a DVD movie maker where i can edit and record to DVD.

I'm not sure if this relates or not. I have a Sony DVR-10 stand alone DVD recorder and if I'm using DVD+R I have to leave some time for the DVD to be finalize. If I record all the way to end I just made coaster. Now if I use a DVD+RW I don't have to finalize, I can play it in a PC but not a DVD player. So to be safe I now record on DVD+RW and then just copy it to DVD+R or -R on the PC.
