Hitachi DZ-MV550E DVD Camcorder - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Hi.
First of all make sure the dvd in in the right way...the side that does not have writting ( ie: the discs i have have a purple side, that is the side that gets burned) that faces to the inside of the camera.

If first one doesnt work then you need to change the file format from mpeg to dvd - download AVSvideo convertor and this will change your camcorder film to a format that will burn onto a dvd disc.

Hope this will solve your problem.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Built in microphones for camcorders are notoriously bad at capturing sound well. There are 3 main things you can do to improve the volume levels:

  • "Zoom" by moving closer to your subject when possible. The closer you are the better the volume will be.
  • If you can control the environment you are recording in, try to minimize the background noise.
  • Most camcorders have a microphone / audio in feed. If so, using a plug in microphone should also improve quality (assuming you get a decent microphone).
It would probably be worth your time to check the camera's menu to make sure there isn't a microphone boost option. They generally increase the background noise a lot too, but if its there it should help.

Here's a USB driver for your model. Will that do the trick?

Includes an "Installation Guide" as well. Good luck :)

The manual says this camera's USB connection is only compatible with Windows 98. It may be that Windows 7 already has the drivers necessary. Otherwise it is probably going to be easier to copy videos to the PC by simply taking the disks out of the camera and putting them into the computer's DVD drive, or taking out the memory card and putting it into a card reader on the computer.

If it is the Hitachi editing and playback software that you want to install, then there are alternative programs that will do the same job that can be downloaded for free from the internet. Try download.com.

The DVD which you have formatted might have got corrupted. In most of the cases, some camcorders or other devices will not accept the formatted DVD's. Try using a new DVD CD.

I have installed my 350e with the WinXP drivers on my Vista box. After install went ok, the DVD-Cam drive came up under my computer.

Copied the video file across to the desktop and changed the extension to MPG.

Plays fine in WMP, should be able to edit ok with Vegas or smilir I guess.

At least I can download from the camera disks and archive now. :)

You can get your driver HERE.

Try to play it by connecting camcorder through the ac adapter/charger which will further connect the battery, so this means you do not have to put the battery in the camcorder rather get it through the ac adapter/charger and format if it asks to. I recovered 1 disc by doing so!

First find the format of the video.

Insert the video cd to the computer and right click the video file and the click the properties menu, watch the file type(i.e: .flv , .avi ,.wmv)

Basically the hitachi saves in mpeg2 or mpeg4 type.

Use the GOM player to play the video Or there are many more players available to play that video.
