I have the same issue with my DENON receiver. I know that there must be a setting in some menu someplace. But how can you read the menu when the display is too damn dim, right? I have searched through the buttons on the remote and pressed all of them after changing the batteries twice. They are either unsmart or they don';t care. Any way it sucks

Denon PMA 250SE does not have a RIAA phono preamp.

for some info about these preamp and details here;

Phonopreamps.com Home Page

Note: Choose a better quality regulated power supply,

for these preamps.

Although an updated turntable with USB can be used

without the need of such RIAA phono preamp.

How do I get it on stand by as without the receiver being on standby cannot get the Denon instruction on my TV screen. It is impossibe to do so. When in standby mode, CPU voltage supply is shorted to ground. CPU shuts down. Without receiving any signals from CPU, both HDMI input and decoder do not work. They work only working CPU is fully awake.

"Your best option will be to use the AVR-5700 manual, the next in the series. Operationally, they are nearly identical, and the usage procedures are substantively the same. The main difference being that the 5700 supports a few newer audio compression formats."

Try and unplug all the cables from the unit and see if it still turns off with nothing connected. If not, connect one speaker at a time to see if there is a short

Check the speaker terminals. If they are crossed. You may have activated the overload circuits. also you may have too high ohm speakers. Connect 8 ohm speaker and try again. Make sure wires are correct + to + and - to - on both ends. If you have all this it should work. Good luck.

Not much to set up - make sure the turntable is level and stable and the tonearm adjusted to the correct playing weight for the cartridge/stylus and then connect the turntable to a suitable RIAA corrected preamp input - low impedance high sensitivity for magnetic cartridge and high impedance low sensitivity for ceramic or piezo cartridge. The speakers are best placed far enough apart for good stereo separation and on a substrate that doesn't resonate, if necessary placing them on something like concrete paving slabs or fitting them with pointed feet to bite through carpet.

It isn't a computer, it isn't a phone or a tablet, it is an amplifier. Not everything has a 'reset feature'. It takes sounds signals and makes it loud so you can hear it. Short answer, it doesn't have a factory reset option which is why you can't find it.

Sounds like a new remote would be cheaper than repairing it. The old one could have been dropped or even had water or coffee spilled over it.

The digital out is either a coax (TV cable) you screw on and connect to the same type connector on the receiver or it is a small square connector that requires a fiber optic cable designed for this.

The unit's manual will show you.

Find and correct the component failure(s) that caused the unit to go into protect mode.
