The component that controls the hot surface light is part of the element. If there is a light for each element you just replace that element. If there's one for the whole surface or each side you'll have to figure out which element is causing the problem.

Hi, Ms. Stubblefied. I am sorry to learn about the heating pad melting on your range top. You can use cooktop cleaner to try to remove what you can from the top of the range. Then, using an oven mitt to cover your hand, turn the burn on very low, and use a scraper to gently remove the melted pad. Be sure to use care as the burner will be on. You may not want to do this if the scraper is plastic, as that may melt to the range top. If you do not want to do this, then you may need service. Here is a link you can use if you need service:

Hello, Ms. Perez. My name is Melanie and I am a representative of Maytag. I am sorry to learn about the problems you are having with your range. Turn off the power to the range by pulling the circuit breaker for one minute, then turn it back on. Then try to turn the self clean on, then turn hit cancel before one minute. That should unlock the door, and remove the error code. If my suggestion is not helpful, and you still need assistance, please provide your name, you phone number, your address where the appliance is located, full model and serial number, and email this information to Maytag.Digital@maytag.com. We would be happy to look into your concern further. Sincerely, Melanie.
