I got my Creative Zen Sleek Photo from a friend and everything I did wouldn't let Windows recognize it, but then I got it to work almost magically.

1. Make sure you have the proper drivers installed for it that come with the CD. If you don't have the CD, you can download the ISO here.
http://wp.randyr.net/windows-xp/creative-zen-sleek-photo.html

2. Reboot. When it comes back up, plug the cable into your computer, then into your Sleek. The software should sync up. For some reason, my Zen wasn't being recognized from the usb port on my computer tower, but I plugged it into my monitor's USB port and then it worked. Try that, if none of that works, then it may be a problem with your computer not knowing which driver to assign to your Zen, and if so, try the steps below.

----

1. Plug your Sleek to your computer.
2. Open up Windows' Device manager (right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". Go to the "Hardware" tab, then click "Device Manager").
3. Locate the entry for "Creative Zen Sleek" in your device list. It should appear either under "Sound, video, and game controllers" or under "USB Devices". Once you locate the entry, uninstall it.
4. Unplug your Sleek and wait a few seconds.
5. Plug your Sleek back in and allow the "new Hardware Wizard" to identify and install the drivers for it.

Use the latest firmware version in your MP3 device. If you have PC program to work with your Player, use windows media player instead

try this if your Zen will not turn on

hold the pause/play button down

while holding the pause/play, first use a paperclip to press the reset button and then slide the power thing down for a few seconds like you are turning it on.

release the pause/play button.

you may need to connect it to usb for it to turn on. worked like a charm for me when everything else failed. hope it helps!!!

Moisture causes many problems with electronic devices. You can try putting your mp3 player in a bowl of dry rice, as the rice will absorb any moisture after a few days.
However, if your mp3 player has not been functional for 2 years, it is likely that your mp3 player is irreparably damaged and must be replaced.

I tried some suggestions posted here, and after some testing, I can now give you step-by-step instructions to create a playlist on your Creative Zen.

First, you need to think of the NOW PLAYING list as the "selected songs to be added to a playlist".

So, to start clean, let's empty out the NOW PLAYING list as follows:
1) from the MUSIC menu, select NOW PLAYING
2) when a song is shown on-screen, click the context menu
3) select REMOVE ...
4) select REMOVE ALL
Now, the NOW PLAYING list is empty.

Now, you need to select (mark) the songs you want to add to your new playlist:
1) go to an individual song
2) click the context menu, and select ADD TO SELECTED
3) go to another desired song, and do step 2) again
4) repeat until done

Now, to create a NEW playlist, go to the MUSIC menu, then:
1) select NOW PLAYING
2) it will show you the first song that you selected
3) press the Right button, to scroll through all of the other songs you selected
4) when any song is shown on-screen, click the context menu
5) select SAVE AS PLAYLIST (this refers to ALL songs in your NOW PLAYING list)
6) type the name for your new playlist, and click checkmark
ALL of the songs in the NOW PLAYING list are now saved as your New playlist.

From the MUSIC menu, select PLAYLISTS. You will see the name of the playlist that you just created. When you select that playlist, you will see the list of songs you had selected.

Please note that these songs are still in your NOW PLAYING list also. To create a another New playlist, you will first need to empty out the NOW PLAYING list as you did above.

I hope that helps.

Enjoy!

Well for XP and Up, you do NOT need any driver as such, when you insert into the USB port, Windows will/should detect the device & install the "Generic Windows Drivers" When this is done, and you have rebooted, The Player will no simply Show Up in My Computer as a "Drive" as such you can simply Copy, Cut & Paste as usual. and use as such. The Software that cane with your unit, is to Convert files to the right Format, for use with your unit. It also often gives more control over your unit too.

If your device gets covered in water, act fast and rationally, and you may be able to save your device.

1. DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON.
2. Pull out the battery.
3. Please your device and battery into a bowl of uncooked rice to absorb any moisture.
4. Please it in a warm, dry place where it can receive direct sunlight.
5. Be patient. It is recommended that you leave it in there for at least 48 hours.
6. After 48 hours, put the battery back in and power on.
