dometic a/c, duotherm thermostat, turns right back on after it reaches desired temperture.

I have a dometic 13500 BTU Roof mount a/c. It is set up with the duo-therm analog thermostat. The system cools fine. The problem is that the a/c gets down to the right temp, then it turns off like it should but turns right back on within a few seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It means the trailer is too warm for the thermostat to work - above 90 degrees inside. Take some ice and put in ziplock bag - place over thermostat and cool it down. Unit will start working when thermostat senses it is BELOW 90 degrees. FAULTY DESIGN.

There are several models out there. Here are a couple of manuals with wiring diagrams that I believe will help you regardless of the model number. However, if they are unable to help you, let me know the exact model number and we'll search for the wiring diagram. :-)

a duo therm thermostat (p/n 3105058) was removed

a duo therm thermostat (p/n 3105058) was removed because it would not operate the air conditioner/heater in a firan fireside camper. it was knocked loose from the wall damaging it.the thermostat is for use in a six wire system.the camper wiring consists of of two bundles; one bundle of two conductors (red and white wires) and a bundle of four conductors(red, blue, white & green wires).the thermostat also has a high/low fan switch. the camper owner bought a white-rodgers model 300 thermostat to replace the bad duo therm thermostat. the white- rodgers unit can be used in either 4 or 5 wire a/c-heating systems.this unit has 8 terminals.the duo therm t-stat has 6 terminals.so far i've put the 2 wire bundle red wire on the"rh" terminal and the white wire on the"w" terminal. i then hooked the 4 wire bundle as follows;red to"rc" terminal, white to"y"terminal, green to"g"terminal, blue to"a"terminal. tested unit-nothing happened.i went back to the white-rodgers t-stat instructions and then put a jumper between the y and w terminals.the heater now works but only in the cooling position - still no a/c. i am now wondering if the white-rodgers t-stat will work in place of the duo therm unit? (note-the camper owner removed the duo therm t-stat and didn't mark the wires, he then called me after he couldn't get it to work.at one time i wired hugh commercial a/c-heaters at the manufacturer, but this is the first time on a camper for me. i'v e did every thing the white-rodgers instructions said to do). please help if you can. richard b. 06/14/2009

a. Remove the cover of the thermostat.
b. Connect the RED wire from the air conditioner
to the “RC” terminal on the thermostat.
c. Connect the “YELLOW” wire from the air conditioner
to the “Y” terminal on the thermostat.
d. Connect the “BLUE” wire from the air conditioner
to the “H” terminal on the thermostat.
e. Connect the “ORANGE” wire from the air conditioner
to the “G” terminal on the thermostat.
f. Push the thermostat wires into hole in wall and
fill excess hole with insulation.
g. Mount thermostat base to the wall with screws
provided.
h. Check all thermostat wires on base to ensure
they are completely clear of the bimetal coil of
the thermostat. Adjust if necessary.
i. Replace thermostat cover.
If nothing operates on the air conditioner, remove the
return air grille assembly and verify the red, orange, yellow
and blue wires are properly connected (red-to-red,
orange-to-orange, etc.).
Next, disconnect the red wires and check for 12 volt
DC between the red wire from roof section and the orange
or blue wire from roof section. If no voltage received,
refer to Section F2. If voltage is received, the
problem lies with the thermostat or thermostat wires.
Next, disconnect all 4 wires (red, orange, yellow and
blue) from the thermostat. With the thermostat set on
COOL mode, FAN mode set on AUTO and HIGH, and
temperature selector set lower than the room temperature. Check for continuity between terminal RC (red wire)
and terminal G (orange wire); and RC (red wire) and
terminal H (blue wire). If continuity is achieved on each,
proceed with the next step.
Set fan switch to LOW. Continuity should NOT be present
between terminal RC and Terminal H, but present between
the other terminals (Y & G) and terminal RC.
If all of the previous checks are good, the thermostat is
good, do not replace it. If any one of the previous checks
are not correct, replace the thermostat.

16. SYSTEM RESET
a. Turn the ON/OFF switch to “OFF” position.
b. Simultaneously depress and hold the MODE and ZONE
push-buttons while turning the ON/OFF switch to “ON”.
FF should appear in the LCD display until the MODE
and ZONE push-buttons are released.
c. When a dip switch is turned on or off after initial configu
ration, a system reset will need to be done before the
Comfort Control CenterTM will recognize the updated selection. Try this. This is for the five button thermostat. Did you check the dip switches to be sure the proper ones are turned on? I need to know which stat you have 4 or 5 button. I have trouble shooting for both.
If you notice reset needs to take place after a dip switch is turned on or off. The dip switches are on the circuit board. You need to drop the lower cover. the dip switches will read in this order #1 heat strip/ #2 zone2/#3zone3/ #4 zone4/#5 furnace/#6 differential/#7stag/#8 gen start. Check this out and be careful. Turn off the stat to change dip switches. On will be toward the description. If you don't have remote start gen set the dip should not be on. If you dont have a Zone 3 the dip should not be on, etc.
Any questions feel free to post back
Thank you for using fixya

It means that an error has occurred. If you have a 4 button comfort control. Follow these steps to reset:
To initiate a RESET, do the following in the order
listed:
1) Turn control on to ensure annunciator data and light are present. If data and light are present, continue to next step. Depress MODE switch to activate annunciator light.
Simultaneously depress the bottom two buttons (temperature UP and DOWN) and hold.
While holding these buttons down, depress the MODE button once and release.
Release the two buttons previously held down. Depress the MODE button once again.
At this time the light should extinguish, and the mode should register “OFF”. If not, repeat these steps.
Retest system ensuring that all functions are present
and operational.

If you have the five button comfort control. Turn the unit off and hold down the mode and zone buttons together. While holding them down, turn the thermostat back on. Hold the buttons down until an FF appears on the screen. Release the buttons and the display should return to normal. If not, try it again.

locating owners manual for 5th wheel & factory appliances

I have a 1990 Terry (by Fleetwood i think) 28ft 5th wheel I just purchased. The previous owner did not have any of the manuals nor instructions for the trailer itself nor any of the factory appliances including the rooftop A/C unit. Does anyone know where I can find/buy these? PLEASE HELLLLP!!! Desperate at this point.

You'll probably find that the actual owners manual for the trailer is just a generic one, that covers many trailers in the fleetwood line-up. I'm guessing your worried about the AC, microwave, water heater & fridge. Get make & model numbers off them & I'll see what I can come up with. As far as items in the trailer other than that or questions, feel free to get back to me with any, and I should be able to explain most if not all. I'll also keep my eyes open at work (RV dealership) for a manual of your year.
