I bought a brand new canon with my first pc years ago and it was the first and last ia m afraid, it worked for two...yes two...print jobs, i had it a wee k then it just stopped and said a jam, but it turned out to be the paer sensor. Brand new and they had to swap it. Seems a big fault with these. However, the next one seemed to be ok, but i had occasional cartridge issues. I have never had an ounce of trouble with my lexmark apart from alittle toddler paperjam!!!

As [I assume] all that has happened is the printer has been packed and moved, possibly a slight knock has caused a contact dislodge.
So remove the printer head and reinstall it.
Then remove the printer software from the computer and reinstall it.
See what happens.
Further advice can be obtained from www.fixyourownprinter.com
type in you printer model to gtet the the appropriate forum

Unfortunately most printers are cartridge specific. Many of these cartridges are nearly identical, but one small protrusion will prevent one from working in a different but nearly identical printer. Sorry man, I think they do it like that just to make it a royal pain!

Go into the properties for the printer (right click on the printer icon in the printers/faxes folder or the control panel and select properties). From there you can tell it to print in color, black and white, or gray scale. (You may have to go into the printing preferences option, I can't remember exactly where but somewhere in the properties is that option).

The setting should go something like this- Colour reflective Black and white reflective Colour Negative. Colour Transparency. Black and white negative. Some scanners automatically sense and switch to what is loaded - others need setting up. So check thoroughly all the settings in conjunction with the manual[A full manual in PDF format is usually on the software disk. Then come back

This is an ink overuse error. It may read 5B00 and not 5800.
No real easy fix as far as I know but this video might help. Good luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0waX_GF-h7U

i don't know. please open as much as possible to see if there is olde paper still in the machine. if clear, maybe a
flashlight would help search for something in feed tray.
if you haven't tried yet, shut off printer. unplug all printer wires. reconnect power cord then load a few sheets. push the 'Stop' button a few times. push and hold stop button down for 15 seconds. try to copy something. if it works, reconnect to computer and try printing off something from notepad as a test. if still not OK. Canon may be able to test machine over the internet. also, there may be updates to
install for your neighbour.

First, get a flashlight and check inside printer for anything in the way of the ink carriage unit.
If nothing is there, then try removing the ink cartridges and see if the problem goes away, If it does, one of the cartridges needs replacement.

Hi Rolando,
This error relates to the ink absorber being almost full. You should be able to press ok and continue (unless you've already done that in which case, the ink absorber is probably full). http://canontechsupports.blogspot.com.es/2014/09/how-to-fix-error-1702170317041715e08-in.html
