You did not state which version of windowns that you are using . Try this . Go to the control panel printers and delete the printer. Go to the canon website and get the software drivers for your version of windows.  Instal the printer using the windows install routine telling it where the driver is located when it asks. If this doesn not work , pleas ewrite back. I am not positive as I dis seardches on you error code and am fairly certain that the code means wrong driver for OS.

Try the following : GO through the control panel and delete the printer completely. No try to install a new printer using the windows install. When it asked if you have the disk let uit find the install disk and install it . If this doesn;t now work. go back to the support website  and/ or the litature you have that came with the printer and see/ confirm that the windows version you are suing is the same as the one that yo have the install disk for. If not dowenload the correct driver from Canons web site.lf all that fails, since it is  new, return ikt for another.

Have you tried cleaning the print heads using either regular or deep cleaning modes? You should be able to access this through the software options or on the printer itself. You might also manually clean the ink cartriges with a tissue.

If you turn the printer on and then lift up the entire top portion of the printer, the ink tanks will move back and forth twice then come to a complete stop in the center of the unit so the ink tanks can be changed or checked. Make sure you do not reach into machine while the unit is moving...
When I say lift the entire top portion of printer I mean the whole top not just the lid where the glass is located.
I hope this helps you out. Let us know.

I would suggest removing the printhead, make sure there are no more dead roach's under the printhead, also make sure all lights on the ink tanks are lite up, the first error code you mentioned has to do with the ink tanks, the second one has to do with the printhead. I would suggest un-installing the printhead, then reinstalling it doing the alignment, and that should clear the error code.

This unit does not require the proof of purchase until 3/2009, so if you take it to a service center and tell them that you bought it about 8 months ago, but can not find the receipt, they are suppose to take your word for it and repair it under the warranty. However if you sent in the warranty card with the serial number they may have it on file, however the service center can not access that info unless they go through tech support in Va. Most do not.
I hope this helps you out, and lets you keep your hair in your head. :-)

Please check the location where the file saved by your Scanner and note down its size.

Also as you mentioned in your next reply, you need to go for check Device manager. Reinstall the drivers.

Did you look under the white foam protective cover on the underside of the lid, the one that looks like its sole purpose is to press documents flat against the glass? That's where the film guides are stored, believe it or not. See page 65 (of the file, page 63 as numbered on the pages themselves) of the manual here:

It's most likely an after market cartridge. Try a diiferent one or get the OEM.

You would have to open it and check the fuse on the power board, or replace it if O.K..

and Hello,

Appreciate the update.

Re rob_a.sys and rob_v.sys - they were for your Pinnacle PCTV Pro TV capture card. There are updated versions that works with XP and if I remember right, you I suggested for you to search where you can find the updated versions, download and try it they will likewise work with Vista.

Re Canon PIXMA MP810 All-in-One - try deleting it in your Printers and Faxes. Thereafter pls try the "New/Add Hardware" in your Control Panel rather than the "Add a Printer".

If the error code is actually 5100, this is how you fix it:

Open the paper output tray.
Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)
Open the inner cover.
a. Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
b. Do not touch any metal parts.

Press down on the ink tank until a click is heard, thereby making sure the ink tank is seated properly.
Make sure that the ink tank is inserted in the slot that corresponds to the ink tank's color.

Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red
Ink Tank Lamp
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.

- On: The printer is ready to print.
- Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
- Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
- Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).
When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.
When starting printing next time, the print head cleaning launches automatically.

If you haven't installed ink recently -- then you are out of ink and that is why you ink out light is flickering.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck.

There was plenty of ink left in my Cyan tank but just replacing it with a new Canon CLI-8C one, as suggested by techguru005, did the job. I suppose that the chip must have been faulty?
Let's see how long this one lasts!
Thanks, techguru005, it's fixed for now.

i'd say your print engine is quite out of sync...you had this canon for a while?

Canon PIXMA ... | Answered on Mar 18, 2008

Go inside the unit, the jam is most likely to be a very small torn shred of paper, near the carriage roller or similar. Us ea torch if the room is not bright enough, this helps fing it.
