My laptop screen is half white half color whats wrong and how do i fix it?
Posted by kerryl107 on
From my experience I can tell that this problem may be related to the following:
1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen.
2. Defective LCD screen.
3. Defective motherboard (I assume the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).
Most likely you still can use the laptop with an external monitor. Just connect the monitor to the VGA port on the back or side of your laptop and then switch the video output from internal to external mode.
On Toshiba laptops you can toggle between internal and external screens using Fn+F5 keys. Hold down Fn and press on F5 until you get video on the external monitor.
On IBM laptops use Fn+F7.
On HP laptops use Fn+F4.
It’s possible that you have to use a different key combination on your laptop but you get the idea.
On some laptops, in order to be able to use the external monitor, you have to connect it to the laptop and then restart the laptop so the external monitor is detected by the laptop.
I hope this helps answer your ?'s. Good Luck ^_^

I am using a Compaq Presario V6000
It has a partition on it that is meant to house recovery to original factory default. Not quite sure how to get into it.
When I start it I get a black screen offering to start in recovery mode or boot up in normal mode.
If I choose normal mode I get this
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix the problem:
1.Insert windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2.Chose your language settings and then click "next".
3.Click "repair your computer"
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is
missing, or corrupt
I do not have a windows disc and it is that long ago when I created the boot disc I have no idea where it is.
When I powered down and rebooted I got
Windows Boot Manager
Windows encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or faulty CD-rom drive that is failing. Make sure that removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.
If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
Status : 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred

I have removed battery and put it back in. Any ideas? It is 2 years old...no prior problems...doesn't appear to "run hot" as ofhers have said.
Hi, so when I turn the computer on it just stays black and shuts off/on without ever booting up. Anyone who knows whats wrong with it. Thanks a bunch.

cannot get into windows want to reset my whole comp

you,ll need to go to compaqs support site, if theres a system recovery partition on your hard-drive. you press F9 or similar on boot-up. Alternatively is to try and aquire a system restore CD for that model. this will correct any faulty-corrupt Drivers et,c.

I noticed that someone said to uninstall and allow the computer to reinstall the wireless adapter but how do I nkow which one it is? Is it the 1394 Net ADapter #2 or the NVIDIA nForce Netowrking COntroller or something else?
Any helps would be awesome.
There should be another adapter available. The two you mentioned are not your primary wireless connection.
The device will usually have 802.11g/a/b or something similar in it's name. It might also say Intel PRO/Wireless.
I assume you are uninstalling it because it is malfunctioning. The task you are performing can sometimes fix whatever the problem might be, but in the case that it doesn't, I would recommend downloading the most recent driver for the wireless adapter
Driver for XP - 32 bit
Driver for Vista - 32 bit
I hope this helps! Feel free to reply if you need anymore information or if you have questions.

i con't connet my laptop to lcd projector, when i was using vista or mandriva linux it is connected, recently iam with xp, it is not connected, why, i have to instal any driver for that?
Posted by msharavana... on
The video output will automatically switch to the data projector first when you power up the data projector first and then boot up the laptop.
When you power up the laptop first you can toggle the Windows image between the LCD screen and the video port/data projector by pressing the Fn key plus the F4 key. Pressing these keys each time will switch the display from LCD screen to video port only, to both LCD screen and video port, and back to LCD screen only.

EVERYTIME I TURN ON MY LAPTOP THE MONITOR COMES OUT BLANK. TURNS ON AND POWER TURNS OFF RIGHT AWAY.

Is the battery fully charged? If so unplug the device before turning it on. My roomates HP will shut off if plugged in while powered on it is most likely due to the compound on the heatsink.
