Did you try showing "hidden folders and files"?
In the Explorer, select the Tools menu, and pick Folder Options.
Select the View tab and in the list enable "show hidden files and folders".
You can also try showing system files (so choose not to hide them).
That should show you all files and folders on the disk.
Do make sure you are logged in as a user with admin rights.

Not made a back up, LaCie Hard drive, USB 2.0
To correct and solve this error, follow this steps:
1. Run Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del or right click on Taskbar)
2. Stop wscript.exe process if available by highlighting the process name and clicking End Process.
3. Then terminate explorer.exe process.
4. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
5. Type “cmd” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
6. Type the following command one by one followed by hitting Enter key:
del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del d:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
del e:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a
c, d, e each represents drive letters on Windows system. If there are
more drives or partitions available, continue to command by altering to
other drive letter. Note that you must also clean the autorun files
from USB flash drive or portable hard disk as the external drive may
also be infected.
7. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…).
8. Type “regedit” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK.
9. Navigate to the following registry key:
10. Check if the value name and value data for the key is correct (the
value data of userint.exe include the path which may be different than
C drive, which is also valid, note also the comma which is also needed):
If the value is incorrent, modify it to the valid value data.

LaCie 500GB external will not
Did you format the drive using Disk Utility? Open "disk utility" from the dock icon or applications/utilities folder. Click the drive name on the left side of the disk utility window. click the "partition" tab in the window, next click the "options" tab and select GUID Partition scheme, or any Mac compatible scheme, read each explanation of the schemes. Name and resize your partitions, click apply. This is how it works running Leopard, not positive if the same applies to Tiger. I hope this helps you

Hard drive motor just cant get a full head of steam going
When the motor and the heads start getting noisy, clicking andwhirring, and the hard disk access time gets abnormally longer thanusual, that means that the disk can fail at any time.
Better saving all your data and get a replacement drive.
If this happened on two Lacie and they did not receive any shock, then call Lacie to complain : Contact Support
Let me know if you need info on how to get data recovery.

Lacie Desktop Hard Disk beeps when connected
No much help I can give, when an hard drive beeps it has motor error or head error, the disk hardwar is faulty, and you are not able to recover anything from the disk.
A safe data recovery can only be performed by specialized companies on a facility called clean room, where dust is completely removed from the room using a vacuum.
The data recovery using this kind of equipment does not cost less than $800.

External hard drive
500Gb Lacie D2 Quadra with the same problem of flashing led and not
mounting on the desktop (Mac G4 Mirror), traced to the power supply
(57w) going down on power, both 12v and 5v supplies are available but
the main power to run the drive drops to below an adequate output,
hence the clicking and whirring evident from the drive with
simultaneous flashing led.
Testing with another Lacie power supply (250Gb D2) this time a 34w unit
got the drive up and running, however, and this is the reason for this
post, this lower power PSU failed a week later whilst waiting for a
warranty replacement from Lacie (5 weeks and still waiting for the new
PSU from them. they have no stock)
Message for all Lacie D2 users, check the power supplies first, test
with another Lacie PSU, do not run the drive on a lower rating (34w)
PSU it will fry it and leave you with another failed power supply.
If you are in a tight spot use the temporary power supply to move your
data to another drive and get the correct 57w power supply before
running the drive again.
Don't do as I did assume any Lacie power supply will run any Lacie hard
drive, they won't, fortunately I had a second back up, but am 2 drives
down and no new PSU's available to buy anywhere.
Try and purchase another spare 57w power supply, something all D2 users
should do for long term security, as these do not seem to be very
reliable and getting warranty support from Lacie on these is currently
The lack of 57w power supplies from Lacie and its distributors across the world is surely a warning to be noted!!!!!!
