This is a site where you can download a manual. I'm not familiar with Denen however, you should be able to go out of satellite receiver(HDMI) to your receiver input(tv/sat) then to your HDMI input on tv. Your receiver might show video and sound through another port of receivers options, ie; video 1, video 2, etc. Check all putput options for your picture and sound. Hope this helps.

Logitech recommends that zone 2 is controlled using device mode on your Harmony remote. Controlling zone 1 and zone 2 simultaneously within activities may lead to the AV Receiver turning on and off unexpectedly as you switch between activities. For example, if you try to turn on zone 2 within an activity, it may turn on or off zone 1 and vice versa. Controlling zone 2 in device mode will prevent this from happening.

HOw do I reset a Denon AVR-588

Try plugging in headphones and see if it works that way. Sometimes there are contacts in the headphone jack that get shorted and make the receiver think there are headphones plugged in even when there isn't. Plugging and unplugging them will sometimes clear up the fault.

Denon AVR 588 7.1-- Sound setup questions

This reciever does not decode the audio through HDMI, the HDMI ports are simply a pass-through. To get audio you need to connect an optical audio cable from the PS3 to the reciever also. I figured this out after 2 hours of trying to get audio from the HDMI cable. Here is a link that shows the different audio formats supported through HDMI by the different Denon models. It looks like the AVR-788 is the lowest model that supports audio through HDMI. Hope that helps.

Speaker crackle

HDMI is a High Definition Multimedia Interface and has the capability to transmit both AUDIO and VIDEO all in one cable. Your setup right now is transmitting 2 audio frequecys (L/R stereo RCA and HDMI) into the Denon inputs. Not necessary! I would recommend eliminating the red/white audio cable from the direct tv box to the Denon.

After doing such, your receiver should be able to process audio/video signals appropriately. REMEMBER to unplug all POWER CORDS before reconnecting any speaker/audio/video cable, as it may cause a small electrical surge and fry a micro component in your system!

Reciever turns off after2 seconds

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Power switch come's on 2 seconds and cut's back

First of all make sure your wall socket or power bar is live. Check outlet with a voltmeter or plug in lamp to see if it works.
Next make sure the power cord is firmly inserted into the power socket and into the rear of the unit.
If the power button / indicator flashes red then it could be a sign that the unit is shutting down because it is too hot. Wait a few hours for it to cool down and keep it in a well ventilated area and try again. If the unit still switches off right away even when it is cold then it might be something else. Check the back of the unit where the speaker wires connect to the set and make sure none of the bare parts of the wires are touching each other. A short circuit between 2 speaker wires will cause the unit to shut down right away. As a troubleshooting method, you can try disconnecting the speakers entirely from the system and see if it turns on ok then. That way you can eliminate the speakers as a possible source of the problem. If your set still shuts off right away with the speaker wires disconnected from the back, then try removing all the input plugs from the unit except the power plug and see if it turns on then.
If it still does the same thing with everything disconnected then you may have a short circuit or faulty component inside the unit itself and it will require disassembly and maintenance. If your warranty is still valid then bring it in to where you bought it and get it serviced or replaced.

I have hdtv runnung out the "TV/CABLE" and

hi, try using the audio inputs for something that generally doesnt have video associated with it, like cd or sacd. do you have a headphone to rca adaptor you can use from the computer to the cd input (bottom row). try this and see if the sound quality is good enough for your purposes. music and video games will be pretty good, but movies may not be nearly as good. if you are trying to send video through the receiver from the computer, you might have to bypass video and send it straight to the vga input on the tv. you can still run audio though the receiver.

I cannot get the denon

Check "Speaker A B " buttons on front of the receiver. Make sure they are ON. Then check your "Input Mode" button. It will show in display either coax, digital, analog or auto. set to "Auto" If you still have an issue, post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot further. Hope this helps.

My denon avr589 does not stay on the red light blinks rapidly

I have the AVR588 7.1 Surround A few models down from the on mentioned here. Same problem, turn it on then after warm up of a minute or so it shuts down and the standby red light flashes. It has the same part failure. KIA7915PI. Ive ordered 4 so I have backups since this seams to be a high failure part. I tried crossing the part to a higher quality part like NTE but I cant find one. My searches on the net I did find many have the same problem but noting on resolving it. The way I found the problem is I associated it as a termal issue so I got a can of freeze it at an electronic supply store and cooled several components one at a time cooling it to see if I could keep the unit on longer. Low and behold as long as I kept the KIA7915PI froze it would stay on. Im still waiting for the parts but to get by I have removed the transistor and soldered three long wires to the pc board in place where the transistor was and the part soldered to the other end. This is to extend the part out so that I can keep it cool in a glass of Ice. I dont recommend anyone doing this if your not familiar with electronics. I was careful soldering the leads of the transistor to the wires not to cross them and make sure not to emerge the leads of the transistor into the water as the ice melts. Crazy but it works for now. As I wait for the part i can kick back and watch some movies with some rum on the rocks as my receiver enjoys its 15v regulator too "on the rocks". LOL
