that is no problem just follow these steps and if this doesnt work let me know and i will tell you where to go from there According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the following: Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one IPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked. If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod. If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this: 1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data. 2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer. 3. Open iTunes and synchronize. Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the IPod, which will erase all music and data." If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the solution. thanks and have a great day.

First thing to try is a reset

To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip:
  • If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
  • If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps you!

Resolution If you are experiencing these errors, begin by updating to the latest version of iTunes. When you have the current version of iTunes, try the following:
  • Disconnect and reconnect your iPod and then attempt to restore.
  • Restart your computer and then attempt to restore your iPod.
  • Disable or Enable Disk Use on your iPod and then attempt to restore.
  • Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and then attempt to restore.
  • Remove any third-party USB devices you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse).
  • If you use Windows, re-register .dll files as described in article iTunes displays -50 error message when syncing iPod on Windows XP
  • For Windows users, update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers.
Additional Information Note: If you have an iPod shuffle you may need to use the iPod Reset Utility to restore the iPod. If you are not sure which iPod you have, see Apple Support document Identifying iPod models.
If you are using an iPod touch, or iPhone please refer to this article.

This can happen even on expensive MP3 players. It has happened on my Sony MP3 player a few times.

As suggested let the batteries run out and then fully charge it and see if that fixes it.

If it does not go to the ur players website and see if they have more recent firmware for it. Double check that you can connect it to the PC perfectly fine and install the new firmware. It is quite possible a new firmware will fix the problem.

good luck.....

The battery is dead and needs to be revived or replaced if it is completely dead which most likely the case. It is clearly indicated by the iPod working only when a power supply is connected. It doesn't power up when not connected to a power supply because it doesn't get any power from the battery and the battery doesn't charge too.
