Take the battery out and let the handset dry out, this will take a day or so, then replace the battery and power the handset up. If the error/issue continues, the you will need to replace the handset. If you have insurance, then you can file a claim and at&t will bill you for the deductable.

A request for a PUK code ("Personal Unlocking Key") will appear on your phone if your SIM card PIN code is entered 3 consecutive times incorrectly.

Your SIM card will then become "PUKed" or Blocked. This is a security measure to protect your service.

You need to call the Customer Service department of your cell phone provider and they will give you the PUK code which will unblock your SIM card.

Hi, the JMV 517 error code is as a result of software corruption. One way or the other, your Blackberry's operating system file has be corrupt.
Your Blackberry OS needs to be reinstalled in order for the problem to be solved. You will need Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on a computer, download the latest device software from your carrier website and perform a clean reload of the device software. Below is a link that will guide you on how to do the clean reload .
Once the link is opened, scroll scroll down the page to be able to read information.
Note that due to the JVM error(s) , unless you have done a backup of your personal data of have contacts on a SIM card, you WILL LOOSE all personal data on the device.
If your Desktop Manager can't recognise your device, you will need to contact your Carrier and have a Technical Support Agent assist you.

It depends on the type of "reset" you choose.
Resetting you phone could delete all of your contacts, messages, and pictures etc
OR it could only delete your media pictures etc.
I recommend backing up ANYTHING that you're afraid to lose BEFORE you reset just in case!

The best way to unlock your Blackberry is to buy unlock codes from a trusted vendor.
Search internet for mobile phone unlocking websites. You will come across a thousand websites who can do this. Choose which ever you like. Do look for price comparisons and the unlocking instructions.
Recheck the Model number- Network to which your phone is locked to and the IMEI number before placing an order. If you made any mistakes in these details these people will never give you a refund!!
One more thing, before placing an order ask them about the conditions for getting a full refund in the case of a code failure! Think and make a wise decision. I have personally bought the code for my Blackberry Storm from unlockgenie.com. It is because they have good reviews on most of the mobile phone forums. I got my phone unlocked successfully from that website. I think their codes don't fail. The web link for the above mentioned web site is http://unlockgenie.com

Hi 4 dawgs Sounds like this number is corrupt. One this you can do is take the back off the phone and then take the battery out of the phone. Let the phone reset after you put the battery back in and the back cover on the phone. Their is no real way to fix one number getting ****, It does sound like the phone is freezing up on that number . See if the soft reset helps make it easier to use the phone on that number. You could do a hard reset on the phone but i don't recommend that. IF you havve the desktop manager on your computer plug the phone into the computer and reload your contacts on the phone. This also should fix the corrupt number. If you can't get any of this to work then the hard reset of the phone is in order. You can go into the settings and do the hard reset of your phone. but please make sure you have at least one copy of your entire phone on desktop manager to reload back into your phone. Hope this information helps
